The UMCE high school Sunday School class has taken on the challenge of coordinating flower orders, picking up the plants and creating the garden this year.

Orders will be taken on Sundays March 18 and March 25.

As we move through the season of Lent, here are some meditations to help us along the way.

First Week of Lent The glory of these forty days we celebrate with songs of praise;

Alternative Gift Fair Representative

The Missions Committee is seeking a representative from our church to serve on the steering committee for the Alternative Gift Fair, a two day arts and crafts market that is held in November of each year to allow Christmas shoppers to get an early start. The motto of the Fair is "Buy Once. Gift Twice." Our church is one of six local congregations sponsoring this event that benefits well over a hundred agencies and nonprofits that serve those in need locally and internationally. The steering committee meets once a month most of the year to plan the next Fair, with more frequent meetings in the Fall. Missions Mexican Luncheon to Support Habitat Home - March 18

Community Meal

The Community Meal for March will be held on Wednesday evening, March 28th from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. in Fel-

lowship Hall. All members and friends of the church are invited to attend and bring guests! Donations of food

and goods are always appreciated, as are volunteers to serve as cooks, servers, and clean-up crew.

Many thanks to the team of volunteers who make the meals a success!

Building on Faith—Building a Habitat for Humanity Home

This year our congregation gets to participate in building a Habitat for Humanity home for a local family through Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity’s Building on Faith program.

Building on Faith 2012 is a special project that takes place with the efforts of local churches, synagogues and other faith communities through the coordination of Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity. Combining talents, time and resources with others, we will be building a home in our mountain community for a Habitat homeowner partner all under the direction of Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity. The home is slated to be started in the fall of 2012.

Building on Faith 2012 will bring together a large number of congregations to accomplish this goal of not only building a Habitat home, but also building bridges and new relationships across our community. Congregation of all sizes will participate, each giving what they can to make the home a reality.

The goal for our church is; to pray for Habitat’s work and the Habitat partner families; to provide a portion of the volunteer days needed to build the home; and to raise a portion of the funds needed to build the habitat home.

We are grateful to Dick Page who has volunteered to lead this effort for the congregation. Questions and of-fers of support and/or to volunteer may be directed to Dick or Dwight Souder.

Supporting the Building of a Habitat for Humanity Home in our Mountain Community

Please join us for our annual Mexican Luncheon on Sunday March 18th in Fellow-ship Hall after the 10:30 service. This is presented by the UMCE Missions Commit-tee which will present wonderful homemade Mexican dishes and casseroles in addi-tion to a Taco Bar. A free-will offering can be made to help support our church’s participation in Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity’s Building on Faith program which will be building a home in our mountain community in partnership with Blue Spruce Habitat, a Habitat homeowner partner, as well as other churches in the area.

This is always a fun time for the whole congregation to get together socially while supporting a good cause at the same time. So, mark Sunday, March 18th on your calendars and come and enjoy this special time.

Valentine Auction a Big Success

Your Valentine Auction Was a Great Success! For all hope, worry, anticipation & time, it was worth it! Feb. 12, 2012 will be a notch in the memory of sev-

eral of us for quite awhile. Stepping into the ballroom was like entering a Valentine wonderland. The décor

was breathtaking.

We had over 120 wonderful items to offer to the highest bidder. The drawing prizes each hour and the won-

derful background music provided by our own talented musicians (Terry, Peter and Jim) kept the interest and

entertainment flowing! Jerry Huber, the emcee and auctioneer in his Valentine red coat, kept everyone on

their toes with bid announcements and a live auction! The bake sale table was full of irresistible treats supplied

by the best bakers in town, our own congregation! Ruthanne Huber made sure everyone had the opportunity

to help themselves to a festive refreshment table arrangement of cheeses, crackers, and fruit with bright red

plates & napkins to keep everyone in the Valentine mood. The evening was enjoyed by all.

With very few glitches, Jan & Phil Brown, Marcia & Dave Loomis completed the evening cleanup and drove

away happy, tired, excited and pleased with the event. This could not have been possible without the help of

Sarah Sailor, the youth and their parents, the congregation, and all the community businesses that gave us

items to auction. Please say thank you to those businesses as you shop their stores!

A huge thank you to the best office staff a church could have. They were there for us every inch of the way!

Of the many, many emails 7 days a week, never a minutes hesitation to help. Thank you!

From the Membership Committee, we want to thank you for all the help and our success!

Oh yes, by the way, our cashiers for the evening, Emilie, Barb, Janet & Maureen handled an approximate ex-

tra $12,000 for our church. Out of that, our youth benefited with an approx. $1900!!!

Women's Bible Study (guys are invited too) meets on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 – 11:30 in the church library. Rev. Meredith Rupe is leading the series by Tex Sample entitled “Tex Mix: Heartburn”.

The Book Discussion Group will meet on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at The Place on Meadow Drive at 1:00 p.m. Jeanne Ambrosier will lead us in a timely discussion of T.R. Reid’s book “The Healing of America”: A Global Quest for Better, Cheaper, and Fairer Health Care. Call Marion Stauffer at 303-670-5070; and please feel welcome to join us.

Armchair Theology class meets Sundays at 9:30 a.m. We are studying "What's the Least I Can Believe and Still be a Christian," by Martin Thielen. Pastor and author Martin Thielen has compiled a list of ten things Christians need to believe--and ten things they don't--to 'qualify' as Christians.

Growing a Mission Focused Family - meets during the 9:30 Education Hour. This is for families of all shapes and sizes! The focus is on Jesus’ mission to people in need, and we explore ways to build and participate in mission projects that incorporate the entire family.

Historical Approach to the Four Gospels - Utilizing DVD lectures by Professor Bart Ehrman, this group views and discuss information on the historical background of the gospels. The group meets Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Bob Gerteis is the facilitator. All interested in augmenting their Bible knowledge by learning more about its historical setting are invited to attend.

Men’s Breakfast – March 3: United Methodist Men will meet for breakfast at 8 a.m. in Fellowship

Hall. Roger Krautkremer, new church member and Amateur Radio enthusiast will speak on Amateur

Radio Operation and traveling and operating in Zimbabwe Africa. Jim Nelson and Glenn Slanec will

be coordinating the breakfast. All church family and friends are welcome to attend the program ses-

sion starting at 8:30 a.m.

Designing Women will not meet during winter months. If you know of a person in need of a Prayer Quilt dur-

ing this time please contact Charlene Hahn (cvhahn@comcast.net) or the church office.

Women’s Bridge Group meets on the 2nd Friday of every month from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. It’s a brown bag lunch event with each woman bringing her own sandwich and the hostess providing dessert and drinks. For information, call Jan Brown at 720-746-0746.

Evening Bridge Group meets on the 4th Saturday of each month. Anyone interested in playing should contact Jan McMichael at 303-670-1232. It’s a fun bridge group and any level of play is welcome.

Footloose & Fancy Free Group will be attending the Boulder Dinner Theater’s produc-tion of the very funny musical “The Drowsy Chaperone” on April 19 . Tickets are $40.00 . Vacation Bible School 2012: Sky!

CHORISTER CHOIR REHEARSALS

The Chorister Choir will rehearse for Easter every Sunday until Easter, April 8. Rehearsals are held following the 10:30 service at about 11:45 and last for one half hour. Children in Grades 2-5 are encouraged to join in learning to praise God through music. We would also like to perform on Mother's Day. 9:30 a.m. Sunday School - Children go directly to their Sunday School classrooms. Adults are invited to at-

tend the adult class of their choice or enjoy visiting in Fellowship Hall. Children can be picked up from their

Sunday School rooms at 10:15 a.m.

10:30 a.m. Action Pack– Children who wish to attend will be dismissed from worship service following

“Time with the Children”.

In Celebration of Bryce Miquelon

On Thursday, March 8 from 4:00-5:00 p.m., the youth group will host a celebration of

the life of Bryce Miquelon, in honor of his birthday. This brief ceremony will include

the dedication of a cross on the cross wall in Bryce’s honor, the releasing of message

balloons to Bryce, and a prayer by Pastor Todd. We will meet in the Choir Room. All

those who love Bryce are welcome to attend. For more information, please contact

Please join the youth in penny wars! All pennies placed in the Men’s or Women’s jar

counts toward them. Any other change or bills placed in the jar of the opposite sex

counts against that team. Join us in this highly silly endeavor to help us raise funds

Check Writing Tips from Our Stewardship Secretary

It’s time to remind you of the proper way to write checks for donations to

the Church. Please make all checks payable to ”UMCE” and put your do-

nation in the memo block. We have recently had folks put the specific do-

nation in the pay to block of the check, like “Global Aids Fund” or what

ever else; the bank will not let us deposit these checks. For you and the

Church to get credit for donating to these good causes, please

make them out to UMCE with your specific donation in the memo block

so we can deposit them. Then Janette will cut a check from the Church

once a month to that organization from everyone who donates; that way, you get credit for the donation and so

does the Church. Your following these guidelines will greatly simplify my job of processing all the checks that

come in on Monday morning. Thanks for your cooperation.
