He started lessons at age six, won a talent contest at age14, and was recording for Victor in Montreal as he turned 20.Playing is like speaking, Peterson once said: “You need a clear,distinct voice and a large vocabulary.” Both this, as well as hisvirtuosity, made the Canadian one of the most significant, andpopular, jazz musicians of all time.
