Upon completion of Goal Oriented Echocardiography participants will be able to: • Recognize indications and limitations of goal directed echocardiography. • Recognize and identify the standard echocardiographic views of the heart in normal and pathologic conditions. • List the correct standard ultrasound views best suited to each diagnosis and the limitations of each view. • Discuss collaborative findings obtained by other ultrasonographic modalities. Upon completion of Point of Care Ultrasonography participants will be able to: • Identify other potentially life threatening conditions and their ultrasonographic appearance (i.e. abdominal and thoracic aneurysm dissection, major arterial and venous occlusion, pneumothorax and retroperitioneal bleeding). • Review the utility of ultrasound-guided intervention in specific procedures (Central line and PICC placement, thoracentesis, paracen- tesis, pericardiocentesis, bedside tracheotomy, etc.). • Discuss the value of static and dynamic ultrasound guidance procedures in enhancing patient safety and decreasing the rate of complications. • Identify pleural and pericardial effusions and ascites, develop an understanding of the anatomy of neck, chest, abdomen and retroperitional space. • Discuss necessary equipment and techniques, including maintenance of sterility.
