Orientation Information TableStudent Union BallroomThroughout Orientation, we will have the Orientation Information Table available to answer your questions. While you will be escorted to all sessions, if you get lost or have any concerns, please let us help you.
WaterIt is hot and humid in Louisiana, and we will be doing a lot of walking today. Please keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
Orientation BagsEveryone’s bag looks exactly the same. Please make sure to mark your bag with your name, and please do not put anything valuable in your bag (money, IPods, etc.) If you misplace your bag, please contact a member of our staff.
Orientation Lost & FoundWe will have an Orientation Lost & Found at the Orientation Information Table. If you find a lost object, please drop it off. The Office of Orientation is not responsible for items you misplace during your stay.
Parking and Shuttle ServicesBecause Advanced Credit Exams & Early Orientation are held on a UL Lafayette class day, we have limited parking on main campus. Early Orientation students & parents will park in the grassy area at the corner of Coliseum Road and Saint Landry Street (300 Coliseum Road, Lafayette, LA 70506) and be shuttled to campus in our UL Lafayette busses. The Shuttle Operations handout, located in your orientation packet and at the Orientation Information Table, provides shuttle times and drop-off and pick-up locations.

9:00 AM – 10:15 AM Campus Resources Fair Student Union Lobby Students & Parents are encouraged to visit representatives from many offices across campus to
learn about their services and meet their staff.
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM University Bookstore Student Union, rm. 138 We encourage all Orientation participants to visit our University Bookstore for all your official Ragin’
Cajun gear and to check out their other merchandise. Use the coupon located in your Orientation bag for a great discount!
10:30 AM – 11:15 AM Orientation Welcome Angelle Hall Welcome to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Early Orientation! You will be welcomed by
members of our Student Orientation Staff and campus administrators.
11:15 AM – 12:00 PM Helping Your Student Succeed Academically Bayou Bijou, Union rm. 130 A representative from the Academic Success Center will give you an overview of academic life at UL and
expectations inside the classroom. They will introduce you to the different academic resources on campus and give a broad overview of the student’s advising and registration process.
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Financial Aid & Tuition and Fees Bayou Bijou, Union rm. 130 This session provides important information about program requirements for TOPS, federal financial
aid, grants, and loans. You will also learn tuition and fee payment deadlines, methods of payment, dates when scholarship and financial aid money is posted on the student account, payment plan options, and other services from the Student Cashiers Center and Financial Aid Office.
1:00 PM – 1:45 PM Parent Luncheon & Straight Talk for Parents Student Union Ballroom Enjoy lunch and learn about the transition to college and the ways that parents can support students
through the predictable ups and downs of the first year.
2:00 PM – 3:10 PM Information Sessions 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Concurrent Session Round 1 2:40 PM – 3:10 PM: Concurrent Session Round 2 Parents can pick one session to attend during each of our two concurrent information sessions.
These sessions are designed to give you important information about UL Lafayette. Some sessions are combined sessions with students.
UL Lafayette Academic Scholarship Recipient’s Session Bayou Bijou, Union rm. 130 The Director of Scholarships will host a session to discuss academic scholarships. All students who
will be receiving a scholarship are required to attend this session during one of the two rounds of information sessions.
Cajun Card Services Teche Room A, Union rm. 116 The Cajun Card is your student’s official school ID. Come learn about important details regarding the
Cajun Card, including information on Cajun Cash, meal plans, and other common questions students and parents have about the Cajun Card.
Safety and Security & Parking and Transit The Forum, Union rm. 209 University Police and the Office of Transportation Services will present information regarding safety
and parking opportunities on campus. Details will be discussed regarding the University Emergency Notification System and other safety programs that the University offers students. This presentation will also include information on shuttle services for commuter students, pay parking lots, residential parking and evening shuttle options.
Honors Orientation Meeting for Parents VL Wharton Hall, rm. 222 The Honors Program offers an array of resources and opportunities for students. This session is
designed specifically for parents to help you understand the unique opportunities, requirements, and special resources available to your honors student. This is a great time to meet some of the Honors Program students and staff as well.
OfficeofDisabilityServices Conference Center, rm. 126 The Office of Disability Services is designed to help students who may have physical or learning
disabilities that require accommodation. This session will give students and parents an opportunity to learn about office resources and develop an individualized accommodation plan. Go to the Orientation Information Table in the Student Union Ballroom for more information and to get an escort to the Conference Center.

Commuter Connections Magnolia Room, Union rm. 210 Commuter students discuss helpful tips for those students who do not live on campus.
On-Campus Living Information Session The Forum, Union rm. 209 Students & Parents interested in learning more about on-campus housing options are encouraged to
attend this session to learn more about the Department of Housing and living on-campus.
StudentHealth&Wellness:Yes,TheyareRealDoctors Teche Room, Union rm. 116 Many parents wonder about how their son or daughter can stay healthy on campus. This session will
discuss information about Student Health Services and will include details on how you can ensure your son or daughter is healthy during their time at UL Lafayette.

9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Hilliard University Art Museum 710 E. St. Mary Blvd Show your Parent Orientation Folder for free entrance into our university art museum. Take a moment
and cool off while exploring our galleries and gift shop. The museum features at least 3 exhibitions each season that showcase regional, national, and international artists. We are open Tuesday – Saturday every week. Students receive free admission to the museum year round.

basic function of circulation and reference, and emphasis on information literacy. On the third floor of the Library, visit the center that honors the work of UL Lafayette’s Writer-In Residence Emeritus, Ernest Gaines. The center contains papers, manuscripts, books, journal articles, and essays of Dr. Gaines.
