Great venue, hot weather and… Just a great success at the UKBG National Competition Finals!!!
After such a long wait, after the heats in the country, a long preparation and with our hearts beating so hard while waiting who was the winner… finally the UKBG National Competition 2013 took place at the stunning Sky Lounge Bar of the Double Tree Hilton Hotel Tower Hill, the sun was shining and the bartenders just in perfect fit in their suite ready for the Final Battle!!!
Great atmosphere, beautiful smiles around and god, what a hard job for our judges!!! We must admit, all the cocktails were a piece of art, with their beautiful presentation and I believe is impossible to describe the joy of the Judge's palates!
A big thank you goes to the sponsor Benedictine were Mr Ludovic (Mr Benedictine) Miazga, Their Global Brand Ambassador, along with Mr Paul Curry Enter-prise Brands Manager, from First Drinks Brands, were some of our Celebrity Judges,
22 competitors from North South East and West Eng-land and from Scotland down to Christchurch, gave very hard judging time to Mr Dick ( the Bramble) Brad-sell who is also the proud creator of the Expresso Mar-tini , and to Mr Gavin McGowan Madoo, who is to be the restaurant Manager for the new Shangri La Hotel @ the Shard along with our President Daniel Crebesse, Luodvic Miazga, Paul Curry and Daisy Jones Associ-ate Publisher of, Spirits Business Magazine,
The competition was set in heats of three sets of judg-
es, first jury judging eight drinks and seven for the
next two juries, the best two from each jury went into
the final shake off.
Our National Champion is Pedro Paulo, with his great score has taken the ownership to represent the UKBG at the IBA World Finals to be held next year in Cape Town South Africa but with all the expenses paid!!!In Second Place was, Mr Massimo Lisi and in Third Place was, Mr Swannand Korgaonkar; the Best Technique was awarded to Fabizio Thiella from the Lanesborough Hotel.
A big thank you to you all the judges and bartenders for making this day so special, we also must do not forget to give a special thank you to Luca Cordiglieri our Vice President for keeping control of proceedings , Michael Sweetman London Area Chairman with his London Committee Team , Fabio Immovilli Vice Chair-man, Claudia Carrozzi Ambassador and Roberto Bon-go, thank you to Salvatore Damiano the Thames Val-ley Vice Chairman for all the paperwork and Tom Elms for the superb Photos.
We cannot wait to see you all at the up coming events, we know we all like to make it happen, we are all dreamers… and we know… DREAMERS ARE ACHIVERS!!!

Yes, we like to look after you and your tools, therefore we want to make
sure that your shakers do not get any dust in the shelf… so… here we
go, we start with our “battles appointments!”
We know, you all out there like to have fun on compering your skills by
competing and winning great prices… In the next pages a lot of great
opportunities are listed and they just wait for your entry!
Auchentoshan Switch Competition!
Another fantastic opportunity is coming up for you, and we hope in between your busy shifts you managed to meet the dead line to send to Michael Sweetman, London Area Chairman and his Vice Chairman Fabio Immovilli your receipt!

Amaro Averna Competition
And just like we promised here are the further details for the Amaro
Averna Competition!
Just to make sure you are not getting bored, together with the Instil
Drinks Co, We are really looking forward to see you at this
fantastic event the 16th of September at the Dabbous Bar 39,
Whitfield Street,W1T 2SF.
The first kick off will be at 12 pm, so guys as usual come down by
11 am for your registration and if you feel you need more time to
get ready, you are welcome by 10.30 onwards!
The dead line to send your recipe is the 10th of September, but
you must remember, your cocktail can be made with any home
made ingredients as long as they can be available in the market…
Why? Because the winner is the creator of the Averna’s signature
cocktail!!!!! Another great opportunity to be proud of your skills and
to take at home a fantastic price…!!! £400 WOW !! Plus trophy.
Only 18 of you can enter in the competition, and the selection is
very strict as not only, like we mentioned the winner will be the
creator of the Averna’s signature cocktail but also it must recall the
history and the great legend of the long Amaro Averna’s time!!!
So…. Once upon in the time, in the 1868….
Even if we love all the Londoners Bartenders, as usual we like to
give the most from our association to our bartenders, therefore if
you would like more info about this competition or you would like to
enter become a member and take an advantage of the fantastic
opportunity we like to give to our Bartenders!!!! Otherwise… you
are more than welcome to pop in and take a look!!!!

Master Class & Competition
Salvatore Damiano, Vice Chairman in the Southern Area &
Michael Sweetman Chairman in the London Area have ended
July with another fantastic “must go” event!
After the first introduction from Salvatore and the Brand
Ambassador Nick Bastor from Wray & Nephew who presented
this wonderful Rum.
The day could not finish just with a Master Class, and to follow a
very challenging competition took place and we must admit…
Mr. Sweetman had taken on board some hard time given from
the 14 competitors... as we know judging your drinks guys, is
never easy!
A big thank you for all of you and very well done Franco Burnell
from the Print Rooms in Bournemouth with his drink ‘Castaways
Coconut Punch’
We cannot forget to thank all the people involved in this event for
their hard work especially to Matt Pollard for his beautiful Pic-
tures!

September it’s coming and
Cognac is waiting for us!!!
The time it’s almost up and all ready to go!
Very hard to believe that soon we will be flying to Bordeaux, and after a quick
launch to Jarnac our fantastic adventure in some of the best Châteaux in
Cognac will begin!
Our journey will start with a tour and tasting session with Pier Even Allaire,
Brand Ambassador at the Cognac Hine.
For the rest of the day we will be guest at the house of Jean Martell at the
Cognac Martell Châteaux, we will be visiting their museum, tasting room and
hopefully to see their Paradis!!! ending the day with a formal dinner at the
Martell’s Châteaux Chanteloup.
The second day we will meet Madame Elodie Abecassis, Director of Cognac
ABK6/ Leyrat for a tour with a tasting session and lunch at their Domaine!
We will carry on with another visit and more tasting session at the Cognac
Ferrand Châteaux , where hopefully Alexander will let us visit his Plantation
Rum (finger crossed!!!) and we will be dining at the Châteaux Bonbonnet.
Still a lot to do! Wednesday we will have the great opportunity to visit Cooper-
age and see where the barrels are made, and straight after we will have a
tour, tasting session and lunch at the Cognac Meukow hosted by the Export
Manager Damien Bertrand. The day will finish at the Cognac Otard Châteaux
for one more tour and another great formal dinner!!!
Thursday we must pack our belongings quick as before our departure
Delamain and Remy Martin are waiting for us… just to say bye bye France in
the best way!!!!
