Creating Oracle Software Owner Groups and Users:

Since we don’t have ASM storage requirements so we don’t need Grid Infrastructure and we will go for

Oracle DB Software Install directly. It requires only oinstall, dba groups and oracle user.

[root@CSDBprod ~]# /usr/sbin/groupadd oinstall

[root@CSDBprod ~]# /usr/sbin/groupadd -g 502 dba

[root@CSDBprod ~]# /usr/sbin/useradd -u 502 -g oinstall -G dba oracle

Configure VNC Server for Remote GUI Access:

Start vncserver:

[root@CSDBprod /]# vncserver

Log file is /root/.vnc/CSDBprod.up.edu.ph:1.log

Edit /root/.vnc/xstartup file as follows:

Kill old session:

Note: Don’t bother this Failed message because there was no active session so the mes sage is true.

Start new VNC session:

You need to request your system admin to open vncserver port in the firewall (default port for session :1

is 5901)

Media Availability:

Make sure you have following 2 media files available for Oracle Database installation:

b. Oracle Software Installation

Login to machine DB server via VNC viewer

Open 2 terminals, one with root user and other with oracle




In oracle session go to media location and extract media files one by one




After extracting both files go to database folder:




Before invoking installer go to root terminal and run this command:

xhost +




Now move on with oracle installations through Oracle user terminal




Invoke installer by executing “./runInstaller” command

On the first installer page either provide your oracle support account credentials or uncheck security

update check box, you can add this later on as well




Click Next




Choose skip software updates and click next




Choose install database software only option:




Go on with the options chosen in screen shots




Provide following locations in below screen:

ORACLE_BASE: /data/u01/app

SOFTWARE_LOCATION: /data/u01/app/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1




Provide following details:

Inventory Directory: /data/u01/oraInventory




Click on Fix and Check Again




Run “/tmp/CVU_11.2.0.3.0_oracle/runfixup.sh ” as root:

[root@CSDBprod /]# ./tmp/CVU_11.2.0.3.0_oracle/runfixup.sh

Response file being used is :./tmp/CVU_11.2.0.3.0_oracle/fixup.response

Enable file being used is :./tmp/CVU_11.2.0.3.0_oracle/fixup.enable

Log file location: ./tmp/CVU_11.2.0.3.0_oracle/orarun.log

Setting Kernel Parameters...

The value for shmmni in response file is not greater than value of shmmni for current session. Hence not changing

it.

Now click OK on Execute Fixup window as mentioned in above screen shot, all checks will be re-

executed and if successful you will be at installation options screen:




Click install:




Once done you will reach at following screen:

Now run both these scripst as root and click OK on this screen:

[root@CSDBprod /]# /data/u01/oraInventory/orainstRoot.sh

Changing permissions of /data/u01/oraInventory.

Adding read,write permissions for group.

Removing read,write,execute permissions for world.

Changing groupname of /data/u01/oraInventory to oinstall.

The execution of the script is complete.

[root@CSDBprod /]# /data/u01/app/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/root.sh

Performing root user operation for Oracle 11g

The following environment variables are set as:ORACLE_OWNER= oracle

ORACLE_HOME= /data/u01/app/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1

Enter the full pathname of the local bin directory: [/usr/local/bin]:

Copying dbhome to /usr/local/bin ...

Copying oraenv to /usr/local/bin ...

Copying coraenv to /usr/local/bin ...




Creating /etc/oratab file...

Entries will be added to the /etc/oratab file as needed by

Database Configuration Assistant when a database is created

Finished running generic part of root script.

Now product-specific root actions will be performed.

Finished product-specific root actions.

As you click OK, you should be at this screen:

Click Close as Oracle Software installation is successfully finished. After this Go on with Oracle Listener

and Database creation.




c. Oracle Listener and Database Creation

Before going for Oracle Listener and Database creation; you need to create an environment file. Create a

new file “/etc/profile.d/oracle.sh ” with following contents through root user:

export ORACLE_BASE=/data/u01/app

export ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1

export ORACLE_SID=HRCSX

export

PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin:$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin:$ORACLE_HOME/OPatch

export

CLASSPATH=$ORACLE_HOME/JRE:$ORACLE_HOME/jlib:$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/jlib:$ORACLE_HOME/n

etwork/jlib:$ORACLE_HOME/sqldeveloper/jdbc/lib/ojdbc14.jar

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:/lib

export JAVA_HOME=$ORACLE_HOME/jdk

export TMP=/tmp

export TMPDIR=/tmp

And make it executable:

chmod a+x /etc/profile.d/oracle.sh

Now open new terminal in vncviewer and switch to oracle user, verify if oracle user environment is set

by “echo $ORACLE_HOME” command:

If you get ORACLE_HOME location then proceed with listener creation.




Run “netca” command on same oracle user terminal in vncviewer to invoke Oracle Network

Configuration Wizard and use options as mentioned in below screen shots:

Click Next




Click Next




Click Finish.




Now run “dbca” command on same oracle user terminal in vncviewer to invoke Oracle Database

Configuration Wizard and use options as mentioned in below screen shots:




Click Next




Mention “HRCSX” as Global Database Name and SID, click Next




Click Next




Choose “Use same password for all accounts” and provide password, click next




Choose “Use common location for all database files”, provide following location and click next:

/data/oradata




Click Next




Click on Sizing Tab




Set processes to 250 and click on Character Sets tab




Choose character set as mentioned in above screenshot and click on “All Initialization Parameters”

button in the bottom




Click on “Show Advanced Parameters” in the bottom




Look for “nls_length_semantics” parameter, its default value is “BYTE” as mentioned above. Modify this

value to “CHAR”




Click Close




Click Next




Click Finish to create database as per parameters mentioned.




Click OK




Wait for DB creation wizard to complete




Once DB is created you will get above screen, click exit. Your database is created, now verify by

connecting to it through oracle user on command line as follows:

[oracle@CSDBprod ~]$ sqlplus / as sysdba

SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.3.0 Production on Thu Dec 20 22:21:22 2012

We would need Oracle user for Oracle Client, JRocket JDK and Tuxedo Application Server installations.

b. Oracle Client Installation and configuration

Login to VNC Viewer session and open 2 terminals, one with root and other with oracle user




In oracle user terminal go to db client media location and unzip media file:




Now execute “runInstaller” to invoke installation wizard:




Choose Runtime option and click Next

Choose Oracle Base and Software Location paths, click next

c. Oracle JRocket and Tuxedo Installation

Open a new terminal with Oracle user in VNC Viewer

Go to media directory and extract JRocket media files




Make the extracted ZIP file executable and run it as mentioned in above screen shot to invoke installer




Click Next




Set the installation directory as mentioned above and click next




Click Next




JRocket is successfully installed, click Done to finish.




Now go for Tuxedo installation, same way extract tuxedo media through Oracle user:




Make the bin file executable and run to invoke the installer




Press OK




Click Next




Set Oracle Home Directory to “/u01/middleware” and press Next




Click Next




Press Install




Type tlisten password and click Next




Choose No and click next




Installation is successful, press “Done” to finish.




d. PeopleTools Installation

Connect to VNC Viewer session and open a new terminal with psoft user

Go to media location and unzip PT8.52 media

Now go for PeopeTools 8.52.07 patch installation, steps are exactly the same as mentioned ablove, you

Once you will unzip 85207.zip, it will ask for password, use “Shuttl1ng$W1zard” as password.




Go to Disk1 in extracted PeopleTools Patch media and run setup.sh




All the steps from here onwards as same as mentioned in above PeopleTools 8.52 installation. So follow

above mentioned screen shots.




Upon successful installation you should have above message.




Now install PeopleTools Verity, on the same VNC Viewer terminal go to Verity media directory and

extract media file:




Go to Disk1 directory and run “setup.sh” to invoke installer

Also we need to provide init.ora file for the Oracle DB to this wizard, so copy initHRCSX.ora from DB

/u01/oracle/product/11.2.0/client_1/dbs/initHRCSX.ora

If you don’t find this file on DB server, you can create it. Login to DB server with Oracle user on Putty or

any other ssh client; connect with HRCSX DB through sys user:

This is a known bug with the PT8.52 installer running on LINUX but it won’t cause any issues. We need to

modify DB configuration scripts which are created by this wizard for our setup. Go to following location

on App server:

Connect with database through sys user on SQL prompt

You should get above message upon successful completion

This will take some time to complete




Run “psroles.sql” next




Run “psadmin.sql” next





NOTE: You will get some objects to be dropped does not exist error messages during this step, nothing

to worry about this as this is a new setup and some object may not exist already so there is nothing to

be dropped.




Run “connect.sql” script next




You should get above message upon successful execution. This is the last script to be executed on SQL

prompt so this will terminate SQL session as well.

Open a new terminal with Oracle user in VNC Viewer

All steps are same as mentioned in JRocket installation section on App server. Invoke installer and

continue with the setup




Click “Done”, you should get above message upon successful installation.

Now set JAVA_HOME environment variable and add “$JAVA_HOME/bin” to PATH variable

Go for Weblogic media folder and start the installation

Set middleware home path and click next

Oracle JRocket should be chosen as JDK, click Next

c. PeopleTools Installation

Connect to VNC Viewer and open a terminal with psoft user, go to PT8.52 media location:

Execute “setup.sh” to invoke installer




Enter license code “zm7ky3w41m044u863q67oke1ms7t1f2”, press enter




Choose “Unicode” database option




Choose “PeopleSoft Web Server” as only option




Give “/u01/psoft/PT8.52” as install location




Provide web server IP as PSEMHUB machine name




Review the information and press enter to start installation




Upon successful completion; you should get above message

Now go for PeopleTools 8.52.07 patch installation.




In the same terminal go to media directory for PT8.52.07 patch and run setup.sh to invoke installer




Enter the same license code “zm7ky3w41m044u863q67oke1ms7t1f2”, press enter

All the next steps as same as mentioned in above PeopleTools 8.52 installation screen shots so follow

them for remaining steps.




You should get above screen upon successful installation of PT8.52.07 patch.




d. PeopleSoft HRCS Installation

Login to team viewer and open a terminal with psoft user

Go to HRCS9.0Rev5 media location and unzip media files




Run setup.sh to invoke installer




Provide license code “117fefffff8fffffebfb197c32sm64u ” and press enter




Choose “Unicode Database”




Choose web server only option




Give installation location “/u01/psoft/PT8.52”, press enter. Choose installation options on next screens.




Press Enter when finished choosing components




Verify your required components are chosen, press enter to start installation




Upon successful installation; you should get above message.




4. PeopleSoft WorkStation/FileServer Setup on Windows

Login to the windows server via remote desktop and verify if following media files are available:

Install Oracle JRocket JVM, click on the installer

Start Oracle DB client installation, you can use instant client as well but run time is recommended as all

library files are automatically copied to Oracle client home.

Run setup.exe

Choose RunTime, click next




Choose Oracle Home name and path, click next

Installer checks should be successful, click next




Click Install

Click next on Net Configuration Assistant




Click Finish

You should get above message on successful installation, click Exit




Configure TNSNAMES.ORA entry through netca wizard, go to cmd and run netca command

Choose “Local Net Service Configuration”, click next

Click next




Provide HRCSX as Service Name and click Next

Click next




Provide production DB IP and click next

Choose “Yes, perform a test”, click Next




You should get Invalid username/password error, click on change login and provide correct username

installation, installation directory and license should be same as well.

Once PT8.52.07 patch is installed; next is the HRCS 9.0 installation steps.




Go to HRCS9.0 media location and run setup.bat

Click Next

Accept license and click next




Add following license code and click next

Now set connectivity parameters in configuration manager, open start menu all programs

PeopleTools 8.5 Configuration Manager

Enter following information:

Database Name: HRCSX

Connect ID: people

Connect Password: xxxxxx




Click Apply, go to Profile tab click edit click Process Scheduler tab

DBBIN path should be set to Oracle client BIN directory; press ok on this page and then press ok the

main configuration manager window.

Now verify DB connectivity through Data Mover.




Go to start menu all programs peopletools 8.5 Data Mover

Provide User ID: sysadm and its password; make sure DB name is the production DB I.e. HRCSX in our

case

Press OK

This will open up the data mover windows and your PeopleTools installation is completed.




5. Loading & Updating PeopleSoft Database Objects

Create and run “hrcsxora.dms”

Now you have PeopleSoft workstation setup and we can go for loading PeopleSoft database objects intodatabase.

Login to PeopleSoft workstation machine via remote desktop and open data mover with sysadm user as

we did while testing connectivity

Click on File menu then DB setup




Choose unicode and “AL32UTF8” as Character Set option

Select “PeopleTools HRCS Database – US English” and click Add. It should be as mentioned above, click

Next then




Provide information as follows:


Symbolic ID: SYSADM1

Acess ID: sysadm

Password: xxxxxx

Connect ID: people

Click Finish

This will create and load a script “hrcsxora.dms” in data mover




Click “Run script” button to execute this script, this will start loading PeopleSoft data objects into

oracle database that you have already created. This step takes few hours and data mover window goes

“no responding” mode during this time, so don’t worry and verify progress through logs.

Login with PS user




Select File Open.

Select Project enter PPLTLS84CUR in the name dialog box click OK.

Select Build Project

Choose options as mentioned above




Click on settings and set parameters in all tabs as mentioned below:

Now copy microfocus installer archive “V21658-01.zip” to “/u01/microfocus” directory

[root@CSAppprod /]# cp /u01/media/psoft/Microfocus_NetExpress_5.1_WrapPack4_Linux_64bit/V21658-01.zip

/u01/microfocus/.

Now unzip installer:

[root@CSAppprod /]# cd /u01/microfocus/

[root@CSAppprod microfocus]# ls

Now extract tar file:

tar -xvf sx51_wp4_redhat_x86_64_dev.tar

After extracting following should be the directory structure:

Run the install script in the directory.

[root@CSAppprod microfocus]# sh ./install

This script will install Micro Focus Server Express 5.1 on this computer.

Since we have installed microfocus successfully so now we can go for COBOL files compilation




Login through psoft user on app server machine via any ssh client.

Change to the PS_HOME/setup directory:cd $PS_HOME/setup

To compile the entire COBOL source dynamically, issue the command:./pscbl.mak
