Report of the fifth conference of the Ukrainian Information Security Group
The fifth conference of Ukrainian Information Security Group was h at "Daily Cafe" in Kyiv on 03.12.2010.
Ukrainian Information Security Group (UISG) - is a social group for information security
professionals ( LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/groups?home=&gid=1220117 )The Group was founded in 2007, and has 615 registered participants.
Conference was organized by the UISG moderators: Gleb Paharenko, Artem Karpinski supported Dmitry Bratina (Infopulse). Results
The event received significant volume of positive feedback from the visitors and sponsors, admitting high quality of presentations and overall organization. For the first time in Ukraine, dedicated Information Security event of such scale was supported by ISACA. Visitors actively participated in the discussion of presented materials. The equipment of the sponsors (Cisco, RSA, Zyxel, Fortinet) were demonstrated on the demo stands. Chetskpoint and Zstsaler presented their products. The event was attended by a total of 55 people.
1. The meeting was opened by Gleb Paharenko, moderator of Ukrainian Information Security Group with the statement about the current status and prospects of UISG. Gleb discussed promising projects, including the further development of the registry of Ukrainian information security market participants, an anonymous UISG forum, creating communities of smaller groups sharing similar interests, such as business continuity, preparation for certification of exams, security of virtualization.
2. Alexey Yankovski (PWC, Vice President of ISACA Kiev Chapter) presented a ISACA’s report about the level of Maturity of IT Governance in Ukraine. Content of this material is unique, there is lack of such publications in Ukraine. Alexey also talked about the model of IT risks.
3. Vladimir Matviychuk (Ernst & Young, member of ISACA Kyiv Chapter) has provided exclusive material about the effective management of information risks.
4. Alexander Chubaruk (head of the Ukrainian representative of Checkpoint) presented the methods of work with remote access CheckpointArba and its benefits. After the presentation, an active technical Q&A session was held.
5. Vladimir Ilibman (Cisco) shared his unique experience of vulnerability management in large distributed networks (more than 27000 nodes).
6. Gleb Paharenko (Infopulse) spoke about his own experiences in implementing processes for information security management in large companies.
7. Nicholas Shadrin (Zscaler) talked about security in cloud environments and demonstrated a fascinating attack intercepting the Facebook session of one of conference attendees.
8. Vladimir Tkachenko (ActiveAuditAgency) explained how to make the requirements for penetration testing.
9. Andrei Loginov (SmarNet) described the device UnifiedThreatManagement.
10. Vladimir Catch (Astellit) spoke about social aspects of information security.
11. Alexander Bodryk made a speech about the economics of the cyber-crime market.
12. Igor Kravchuk (MTS) shared his experience in the use of digital certificates.
13. Sergey Dyachenko made proposal to establish a social organization for information security professionals. Principles of organization: equality of all participants, only physical persons, possibly partnership with entities. Among the objectives of the organization are support of information security portal and response team for incident of computer security.
14. Constantine Korsun (iSight) announced a forum of information security issues.
Products of Cisco, Checkpoint, RSA, Zyxel were represented at the demo booths.
During the reports active discussion were conducted.
The participants actively interacted during lunch and coffee breaks.
The exciting raffle of prizes was held.
Conference hall was full from the beginning to the end of the event.
In line with the good tradition the audience moved to the pub Route66 after the conference.
