UFESTMONDAY 19th JULY, 2010

7:00 P.M.

The activities made by students of composition on last Monday talked about some cultural topics of social interest. These topics were about Cooking, The Origins of the Films and the Beatles.

The activity started talking about cooking. Each student speakers talked about a distinctive food of certain countries. For example there was talk of sushi which is native to Japan, they explained which are needed to prepare ingredients such as rice, fish (raw) or seafood and vegetables and mode of preparation. Like many other preparations from Japan, USA, Spain, Peru, Brazil, Costa Rica and some others. Many of these preparations were interesting for me, it was good to hear some preparations that I had never heard before, and others such as the Paella which is well known internationally. I found this part of the activity, it was interesting, but I think that speakers were not prepared enough material to each one played, I mean, at first the topic awoke up my interest but then became bored, the material presented was pretty, and your personal presentation as well but maybe it would have been better if the speakers had not read all the material instead had more gestural and visually interact with the public, this caused quite distracting me and bored me. But speaking more about the content of this part of the activity, I found it quite interesting, the content of each preparation, as they talk about what ingredients to be used and their preparation I would have liked to know where I can get the materials and duration but perhaps that would have been like for an activity for only that topic.

When the cooking topic finished, they continued with the topics about Beatles. This theme was not developed in a good way, was very boring to hear them read and read everything, without even looking to the public, and the only time that they interact with the audience was a little bit useless since the questions were not very consistent place with the audience that was a young to know many details of the Beatles who were from another time (When I refer to interact, I am not saying who ask questions or make exercises, although these are not needed and help is very dependent on public, but I refer to at least see the public when they talk, not just read, to explain, it is ultimately the public that he wishes to convey the message regardless of whether they speak English well or badly, or if the subject they like or not) However, the topic was not bad, could have been better developed, and the exhibitors would have given a better interpretation.

And at the end on the activity, the topic was closed by the film industry, the origins of cinema, and the types of movies out there, and as the film industry was improving and it was becoming modernizing. I liked this part of the activities and I was interested and give to me cultural contribution. The exhibitors were more knowledgeable about the subject and could tell they liked what they were talking, I think their visual material was not very good but the content of the topic was good developed.

The event took various items, but use them all together into one activity, it became tedious and long to be there, would have been nice if the activity had been shorter and better developed, or with only the topics of Cooking or films as were those who performed better.
