Summary of proposal• Pilot be run over the December/January school holidays

2006/2007.• UCT underwrites percentage of the running for the pilot

project, and if this facility continues, for the next 2 years. • UCT makes available an appropriate venue for the pilot

facility, and if the project is considered a success, appropriate venue facilities in the future.

• Governance and management: – A parent body will be established to oversee the governance of the

operation. The parent body will report to the Educare Committee of Council.

– A Coordinator to plan and oversee operations. The Coordinator will report to the Head of the Educare Centre.

Details cont• Fee: R250 per week• Minimum booking: one week• Staffing:

– Experienced Coordinator to plan and oversee facility– One Supervisor per class– Student helpers where necessary

• What is supplied:– Materials (crafts etc)– Snacks (twice per day) – parents to supply lunch and drinks– Access to swimming pool, UCT sports facilities and grounds– Special activities run by UCT staff and student volunteers

• Extra costs:– Special outings (Baxter, etc)– Special activities (external or UCT staff, students)
