FIPSE UCLA Overnight Trip Despite Carmagaddon, On July 16-17, 2011 48 students attended the UCLA Overnight Field-Trip sponsored by FIPSE. The participating students took part in the Peer Academic Leadership Confer- ence in which they went through an intensive two day college preparation training and experienced college life first hand. As a result of this conference, the high school participants are prepared to serve as peer advisors at their schools. Also, all participants received a certificate of completion. At the conclusion of the conference students provided positive feedback about their experience at UCLA and showed enthusiasm towards applying to college and sharing the information they learned with other students. We hope to make this an annual event to expose more students to college life and prepare them for the application process. A big THANK YOU to the following participating High Schools: Annenberg High School, APEX High School, Camino Nuevo High School, College Ready Academy # 5, Col- lege Ready #7, James Monroe High School, John Marshall High School, Mar & Eva Stern Mass Charter High School, Edward Roybal Learning Center, Sylmar High School, & VISA Charter High School. Special Thanks to: Chicano/Latino Educational Foundation
