In this Sunday’s reading, Jesus invites those who are weary to come
to Him. Jesus promises rest, but he also offers a new burden,
though He says that it is light. All things become easier if we offer
ourselves completely to Jesus. Take a moment to reflect on all that
wearies you in your life, and offer it to Jesus.
In what concrete ways are you living your faith
through service to others?
Catholic services appeal (CSA) update
As of April 13, 2014, UCC
parishioners have pledged $9,106.41
to the CSA, which is 182% of our
goal of $5,000! Parishioners have paid $6,681.41 to the CSA,
which is 73% of the total amount pledged. Thank you all!

Black bag Collection • Next Sunday!
July’s Black Bag Collection will benefit the Labouré
Society and UCC community member Krystle
Cagandahan. The Labouré Society provides financial
assistance and spiritual support for those who must
resolve student loans in order to pursue their
vocation to the priesthood and/or religious life in
the Catholic Church. To learn more, visit labouresociety.org and
read Krystle’s story of her call to the community of the Sisters of
St. Francis of the Martyr St. George!
video series at UCC • Tuesdays at 7:30 pm
Journey deep into the Faith with acclaimed author,
speaker, and theologian Fr. Robert Barron. Paulist
seminarian Ryan Casey will facilitate discussion
following the viewing each evening.
Join us for this series in the UCC basement, Tuesdays
at 7:30 pm. To learn more, contact Ryan Casey at
[email protected]. The episode on July 8th will be: “To the Ends
of the Earth—Peter, Paul, and the Missionary Adventure”.
Help us keep the UCC cool!
We have recently had to replace one of the
compressors in the UCC’s air conditioning
equipment (~$12,500), and it is critical that we
begin to set aside funds for a modern HVAC system
that is more efficient and cost-effective. We would gladly accept
any contributions toward offsetting the cost of the new compressor
or toward updating the HVAC equipment in future fiscal years. To
learn more, email [email protected]. Thank you!
Blessings for 4th of July Weekend!
The priests and staff of the UCC offer our
prayers for a blessed and safe Independence
Day weekend!

Prayer Intentions
Masculine Spirituality • Tuesdays, 7:30 pm
This is an ongoing weekly opportunity to talk
with other men in an attempt to balance a
spiritual identity with the demands and rewards
of work and home. The starting point is a
reading shared at the beginning of the session.
The group meets year round and men join in
when they can. Meets on Tuesdays at 7:30 pm
in the Sts. Joan & Raymond room at St. Austin.
For more information, contact Michael Flahive
Conversations with Pope Francis
This series will begin on July 13th and will run
through September. Meetings will be held 10:15 -
11:15 am Sunday mornings in the Our Lady of
Guadalupe Room. Each week we will hear an
excerpt from Pope Francis’ The Church of Mercy and
then delve into what each reading means for us.
There is no need to attend all sessions, so attend
when you can! All are welcome!
