Heads Up
• Mental health is personal - YOU are theexpert of your own experience.

• We’re here for connection, questions and
creating change!
• Films might trigger big emotions - that’s OK!
• Please ask for help if you need support.
Some movies that show mental illness:
-the black swan-donny darko-cave man’s valentine-one flew over the cuckoo nest-silverlinings playbook-an Angel at my table-girl interrupted
Characters with mental illness are portrayed as:
-confused-misunderstood-psycho-hurting-violent-criminal-lonely
What is mental illness?
-integration disorder-results of trauma-difficulty functioning-impacts your day to day-ongoing challenges-feeling different-feeling out of control-feeling that things that are easy for others
are difficult for you
Mental health vs. mental illness?
-mental health is well being-mental illness is a state of being when an
affliction comes (temporal)-all that involves mental illness involves
mental health but not all that involves mental health involves mental illness
