WHEREWE ARE

Is strengthened and firmly consolidated since the foundation in September, 2007. Our of ces are located in Aveiro, São João da Madeira and Coimbra. That’s why the strategic locationof our offices has ensured a

close relationship with the academic world, holding Master’s Internships and project developments with the most prestigious national universities. The cities of Coimbra and Aveiro, aside from other

cultural and leisure attractions, are known worldwide for its universities.

AveiroWe have our headquarters in Aveiro since September, 2007. The existence of a cluster of Telecommunications in Aveiro, conductive to the establishment of strategic partnerships and synergies, was decisive in the choice of Aveiro for our headquarters. The proximity of the Institute of Telecommunications of Aveiro pole, the headquarters of PT Inovação, SA and Nokia Siemens Networks pole, were also important in this choice. The highly engaging

entrepreneurial spirit in the city, Inova-Ria association, the support of the Unit of Technology Transfer from the University of Aveiro and the University of Aveiro Business Incubator (IEUA) were also essential. In 2016, we have moved to our new office, a completely remodeled house in the city center of Aveiro.

São João da MadeiraIn October 2008, we established our presence in São João da Madeira. S. João da Madeira (SJM) is a small council of 8 km2, located in the Northern Region of Portugal, which is part of the Entre Douro e Vouga sub-region, located 40 km from Porto. The industrial council has one of the highest rates of enterprises per square meter at a national level,

CoimbraIn 2013, we decided to create a new office and the best place to be was the city of Coimbra. The entrepreneurial spirit in the city, the University of Coimbra and its transfer of technology and also the industrial poles were essential to our choice. We decided to have our office in the Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN), named in 2010 as the best incubator in the world, being closer to the University community and

NET.MEDE PRO@ANACOMThe Net.mede Pro is a platform for monitoring the quality of service for Internet access provided by an ISP in a region or country, based on a system of open participation, able to extract metrics based on a set of tests performed by the end-users in residential environment.

This platform allows any citizen with Internet access to evaluate in a simple, safely and accurately way a set of technical parameters related to the service provided by the end user ISP. Therefore, the end-user is able to measure the real speed of his internet connection on his PC, smartphone and tablet. The end-user is also allowed to consult his history of conducted tests and to compare the obtained results with the internet speed connection contracted with his operator.

Subsequently, the Net.mede Pro ensures that responsible companies will provide a service that fulfils at least the minimal requirements in terms of quality and monitoring of signal.

SELFNET - H2020The SELFNET is an european project that consists in a network management framework to achieve self-organizing capabilities in managing network infrastructures by automatically detecting and mitigating a range of common network problems that are currently still being manually addressed by network operators, thereby significantly reducing operational costs and improving user experience.

UMETER - PT2020The uMeter QoS is a Quality of Service (QoS) Measurement System for Internet access provided by an ISP in a region or country. As a crowdsourcing data, QoS platform allows the user to see the aggregated results in his and other ISP in his street, city or country. In the telecom’s regulators perspective, this platform provides a real sense of the quality of the service provided by the ISP to their customers, while still allowing a more effective oversight over the competitive market in the Internet area.

Customer Self-care and Administration Web platform:Differential access profiles;User connection history (with KPI);Comparison between customers' Internet connections and equivalent ISP services in their area;Proprietary mechanism to identify the uniqueness of an Internet access;Generation of statistical reports;Application for desktop (Windows, MAC OS and Linux) and mobile devices (Android and iOS);

Measure of the following network indicators:Latency, jitter (packet delay variation) and pack loss;Download/upload speed;Net neutrality;Traffic shaping;Web page access and load time.

SHIELD - H2020Nowadays, cybercrime is one of the most relevant and critical threats to both the economy and society in Europe. Establishing efficient and effective ways to protect services and infrastructures from ever-evolving cyber threats is crucial for sustaining business integrity and reputation as well as protecting personal and sensitive data.

To that end, the SHIELD project proposes an universal solution for dynamically establishing and deploying virtual security infrastructures into ISP and corporate networks. SHIELD builds on the huge momentum of Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV), as currently standardised by ETSI, in order to virtualise security appliances into virtual Network Security Functions (vNSFs), to be instantiated within the network infrastructure using NFV technologies and concepts, effectively monitoring and filtering network traffic in a distributed manner.

SONATAThe SONATA project is an EU-funded project (Horizon 2020) and part of the 5G-PPP initiative. The innovative project has a 30 month workplan, recently started in July 2015. SONATA is a highly collaborative effort, with 15 partners representing telecom operators, manufacturers, system integrators, service providers, SME developers, research and academic institutes (such as ATOS Spain SA, Telefónica Investigación y Desarrollo S.A.U., PT Inovação e Sistemas SA, British Telecom PLC, NEC Europe Ltd, iMinds VZW, Thales Communications and Security SAS, and many other renowned companies from Europe).

SONATA addresses the significant challenges associated with both the development and deployment of the complex services envisioned for 5G networks and empowered by the SDN (Software Defined Networking) and NFV (Network Function Virtualization) technologies.

SONATA targets both the flexible programmability of software networks and the optimization of their deployments. The project will support network function chaining and orchestration, make service platforms modular and easier to customize to the needs of different service providers, and introduce a specialized DevOps model for supporting developers.

Sonata main goals are:Reduce time-to-market of networked services: SONATA streamlines development with abstract programming models, SDK and a DevOps model that integrates operators, manufacturers and third-party developers;Optimize resources and reduce costs of service deployment and operation: SONATA orchestrates complex services to connectivity, computing and storage resources, and automatically re-configures running services;Accelerate industry adoption of software networks: SONATA supports the full service lifecycle: development, testing, orchestration, deployment, management and operations, and will define a roadmap for uptake of its results towards stakeholders' larger transition to SDN/NFV.

SONATA - H2020The Widemonitor is a R&D co-funded project developed by the Ubiwhere, Wavecom and IT - Institute of Telecommunications’ consortium.

This project aims to develop a radio spectrum monitoring system, covering a wide range of frequencies, corresponding to the spectrum where 90% of wireless communications are supported.

The need for higher spatial resolution in the spectral monitoring, which arises from the fact that communications, the particular area of coverage at high frequencies, are making increasing spectral reuse and channel with a high density of radio transmitters, requires that any monitoring system makes available spectrum probes, installed in large quantities, in a tight space matrix, keeping system costs (prices per probe) compatible with the budgets of regulatory and supervisory bodies.

The collected measurements are stored in a centralized, multi-tenant with high availability and able to handle high volumes of statistical data, enabling: sorting, searching, graphs, statistics and alerts. The regulator must have an effective intelligence on the collected data. The communication parameters/measurements collected to the centralized database should be easy, economical and safe, using the Internet and ensuring the security of data sent.

The two project partners (Université Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC) and Ubiwhere) will develop the uMeter’s capabilities in order to allow its services to be commercially deployed for use in 4G and eventually, in the near future, 5G environments.

The goal of FLEXMETER is to collect more specific and reliable measurements, targeted at mobile communications and LTE in particular, since the LTE testbeds enable us to alter the characteristics of the wireless environment, so we can remotely test our product in different 4G environments.Through examination of the experiment results and the monitoring of its deployment on the testbeds, we will be able to analyze areas in which testbed SFA and OMF control systems can be ameliorated. Furthermore, the project partners intentions are to provide feedback regarding the current uMeter infrastructure while simultaneously improving the commercial uMeter solution.

The FLEXMETER is a co-financed european project that will deploy uMeter, a Quality-of-Service Internet access software, on the LTE platforms offered by the FLEX project.

Our company is committed to create smart solutions for smart cities in areas such as mobility, tourism, energy and efficient resource management.

Cities worldwide are facing diverse challenges to demonstrate their commitment to environmental and social demands. The growing concern to find the right balance between urban development needs and global environmental updates, challenges our company to create smart solutions for smart cities in areas such as mobility, tourism, energy and efficient resource management. We embrace interoperability, Open Data and smart cloud-based services as fundamental components of what we do. These principles are reflected in the R&I projects that we are developing, as well as in our Smart Cities products and services.

SYMBIOTE - H2020The symbloTe project (symbiosis of smart objects across IoT environments) is an European co-funded R&D project, developed by a consortium of 14 organizations, including Ubiwhere. The company’s presence is justified by the knowledge it has on the use case of Smart Mobility & Ecological Urban Routing, being the leader on the topic. The main goal of this use case is to help solve the issue of transport inefficiency and poor air quality that many European cities have. symbloTe’s primary target group are SMEs who own/build IoT platforms.

In a world of smart networked devices, the transparent and secure access to and usage of the available resources, across various IoT domains, is crucial to satisfy the needs of an increasingly connected society. However, the current IoT ecosystem is fragmented: the series of vertical solutions that exist today and that integrate connected objects within local environments and using purpose-specific implementations, also connect smart spaces with a back-end cloud hosting dedicated often to proprietary software components. symbloTe solves the problem by providing a "unified view" on various platforms and their resources, so that platform resources are transparent to

application designers and developers. In addition, symbIoTe also implements IoT platforms federation so that they can securely interoperate, collaborate, share resources and support the migration of smart objects between various IoT domains and platforms. For this to be possible, symbIoTe will design and implement an Open Source mediation prototype.symbloTe opens up the potential for innovative business models that are incrementally deployable. Plus, it removes the strict separation between IoT islands to create an environment which: has significant impact on the market, is attractive for a heterogeneous user group, matches the dynamicity of modern life and is helpful for various business, home and public infrastructure use cases.

SAID - FP7The SAID - Smart Water Management with Integrated DSS (Decision Support System) project is a Research and Technological Development project carried out under the 7th Framework Programme (FP7).

The need for providing high quality water to citizens and to reduce damages caused by floods and droughts has motivated our company to embrace a new challenging project focused on developing a software-based decision support system. The objective of the SAID project is to involve end-users and SMEs in improving the production and deployment of smarter water management systems throughout Europe. The project is focused on the deployment and evaluation of a complex demonstrator, in the south of Spain, which represents many similar basins in Europe. It is based on cutting-edge DSS technologies in four areas: flood control (including the optimization of dam management), water quality, energy production and energy consumption.
