    University at Albany Tae Kwon Do

    Article 1 Name

    This organization shall be called University at Albany Tae Kwon Do, henceforth referredto as UATKD.

    Article II Purpose

    UATKD is an educational and recreational organization involved with the teaching andpractice of all aspects of the martial art and Olympic sport of Tae Kwon Do henceforth referredto as TKD.! UATKD encourages all of its members to learn about TKD and the culture it camefrom, through physical training, events, and competition.

    Article III Government

    UATKD is based on a federal system of government with variations and specializedpositions created to meet the specific needs of a collegiate level TKD organization. "t shallconsist of an #$ecutive %oard a.&.a. #'%oard! made up of the traditional offices of government,which are (resident, )ice (resident, Treasurer and *ecretary, as well as a specialized or non'

    traditional office which will include Director of Olympic *tyle *parring,. The #'%oard isresponsible to the University at Albany *tudent Association and all in+uiries regarding UATKDshall be brought to himherthemit. The duties of each officer are defined below-

    (resident- The (resident of UATKD must hold the title of a Ku&&iwon sanctioned %lac&%elt of the stdegree or higher. "f no such person is available through the election process! orwilling, a member of lower ran& may hold the position of (resident.The (resident is the high administrative officer empowered to create or disband UATKD offices,appoint or remove officers, writes rules, levy dues, and govern the membership in the bestinterest of the purposes set herein. The (resident will lead /eeting of Offices see article iv!. "nthe absence of the head instructor, the (resident holds responsibility of 0ead "nstructor, andreserves the right to re+uest a club member to "nstruct class with said members approval!, ordirect instruction responsibility to a club member upon re+uest of said club member provided that

    said club member is recognized as a holder of the title of a Ku&&iwon certified %lac& %elt of thestdegree.

    )ice (resident- The )ice (resident is responsible for overseeing other offices andassisting the (resident with matters confronting the group. The )ice (resident may lead /eetingsof the Offices in the absence of the (resident to &eep order at UATKD meetings and events.The )ice (resident is responsible for all public relations and media management, as well ascoordinating events and fundraisers.

    0ead "nstructor Kyoo *a- The 0ead "nstructor 0enceforth referred to as 0"! is the

    highest ran&ing Ku&&iwon certified %lac& %elt active member of UATKD. The 0" holdsresponsibility of 0ead "nstructor, and reserves the right to re+uest a club member to "nstruct classwith said members approval!, or direct instruction responsibility to a club member upon re+uestof said club member provided that said club member is recognized as a holder of the title of aKu&&iwon certified %lac& %elt of the stdegree.

    Treasurer- The Treasurer is responsible for &eeping all records of all financial dealings ofUATKD and to provide written documentation as spelled out in the treasurer1s handboo&.0is0er duty shall also encompass the collection and record &eeping of membership fees, funds

    raised from events, fundraising and donations. The Treasurer is responsible for creating budgetproposals to be presented at each /eeting of the Offices covering costsneedsspendingprofit forevents, tournaments, fundraisers, demonstrations, e+uipment, and professional relationships withlocal martial arts establishments i.e.fees the club is charged to have an authorized 2/aster"nstructor3 officially recognize promotion and progress of UATKD members.!

    *ecretary- The *ecretary is responsible for all records, including ta&ing notes from

    training sessions, /eeting of Offices, and events. The *ecretary is also responsible for readingannouncements at /eeting of Offices, and training sessions and any administrative paper wor&delegate to himher from the offices of (resident, )ice (resident, Treasurer, or Director ofOlympic *tyle *parring.

    Director of Olympic *tyle *parring- The Director of Olympic *tyle *parring, henceforthreferred to as DO**! is responsible for creating a curriculum and training regimen for whichUATKD members interested in United *tates Tae Kwon Do the national U*A governing bodyfor the sport of TKD, and henceforth referred to as U*T! style sparring can follow as to be able tobe successful in TKD competition.

    Article IV Membership

    /embership to UATKD is open to any University at Albany, henceforth referred to as

    UA,! student possessing an interest in the martial artsport of TKD, a willingness to participate inthe various UATKD activities of regular wee&ly training sessions, demonstrations, competitivetournaments, and is willing to behave in a manor conducive to a healthy, safe, educational,environment consistent to the doctrines of any martial arts school. UATKD will recognize aperson meeting the above standards as a member of UATKD after attending no less than fivetraining sessions. The (resident reserves the right to consult with the traditional #'%oard officesto list a member as inactive, thus alleviating said member of the rights, and responsibilities of anactive UATKD member.

    Article V Meetings

    Official meetings of #'%oard members entitled 4/eetings of Offices1 shall be heldregularly each month at a time and place to be set by the (resident providing that this schedule is

    acceptable to the remaining officers. These meetings shall be open to the general membership5however only officers are guaranteed a voice in maters of state. At the meetings, minutes mist berecorded by tape recorder or written by the *ecretary. "n addition, general interest and massmeetings will be scheduled, advertised and held at various locations and times.

    Article VI Quorum

    Decisions regarding UATKD are to be made by the (resident unless a vote of no lessthan four fifths with said voters including all four traditional offices of the #'%oard, and the fifthofficer holding the office of Director of Olympic *tyle *parring is made to oppose the action in+uestion.

    Article VII Dues/embers are by default not re+uired to pay dues however if the (resident and Treasurer

    each, together, deem additional funds necessary for continuous club operation a due by theamount of 67.88 until 68.88 per member may be levied.Article VIII Warrants

    At the recommendation of UATKD officers, the (resident shall be empowered to issuewarrants of appointment or removal of office. The (resident may be removed from office witheither a vote of no less than two thirds of the #'%oard or with a vote of no less than three fifths ofthe general UATKD active members.

    Article IX Amendment

    9ith a three fifths vote including all four traditional offices of the #'%oard, and the fifthofficer holding the office of Director of Olympic *tyle *parring, the constitution may be amendedin whole or in par, to be set down by the office of the *ecretary who will be charged to inform *Aof the changes, which will become affective upon being signed by the five officers, 4yay1, or4nay1, and approval of *A.

    Article X ati!ication

    The :onstitution shall become affective upon being signed by the four traditional officesof the #'%oard and the approval of *A

    Article XI "tudent Association #unds

    The offices of the (resident and Treasurer shall be charged with preparing a budget for*tudent Association funds and the responsibility for proper e$penditure of these funds. A budgetcouncil including representatives from each office shall be formed for the purpose of drafting astudent association budget for submission upon approval by the membership. The administrationof these funds shall be by the Treasurer with the written, verbal or overtly stated approval of the

    (resident, for the purpose provided for in the budge, with the consent and approval of the generalmembership.
