ZARS, V.C. FARM, MANDYA organised 'Tree thPlanting Programme' on 17 July 2021 partook
by Shri C.S. Puttaraju, MLA, Melukote Assembly Constituency, Mandya district; Dr. S. Rajendra Prasad, Vice-Chancellor; Dr. N. Devakumar, Registrar and Dr. K. Narayana Gowda, Director of Extension wherein Sandalwood seedlings were planted as a token of planting of 4500 diversified plants in ZARS, V.C. Farm, Mandya. Hon'ble MLA advised the Scientists to establish models of Demonstration Units covering Casurina, Bamboo and others that would motivate farmers. Vice-Chancellor opined that the models to be established would guide farmers to replicate the same in their fields and double their income. More than 20 species (Sandal, Red Sanders, Mahagani, Hebbevu, Teak, Honne, Thapsi, Silver oak, three species
of Bamboo, Amla, Tamarind, Jamoon, Jack, Mango, Holematti, Neem, Pongamia, Harali & Goni) with diverse utilities like timber, fruit, medicinal, aesthetic value, etc., were collected led by Dr. S.N. Vasudevan, Associate Director of Research with the support of Dr. H. B. Raghu, Scientist. Dr. Venkatesh, Dean (Agri.), CoA, Mandya; Dr. Chandrashekar, Joint Director of Agriculture, Mandya and other dignitaries & Faculty of ZARS participated in the planting programme.

SHRI C. S. PUTTARAJU, Hon'ble MLA, Melukote Assembly Constituency inaugurated the Certificate Award Ceremony of Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers
th(DAESI) at ZARS, V. C Farm, Mandya on 17 July 2021. Certificates to 40 DAESI students were distributed. Vice-Chancellor advised the input dealers to work like the earlier Grama Sevak's, since all of them have been trained as Para Agricultural Extension Professionals. Dr. S.N. Vasudevan, DAESI Programme Coordinator briefed about the 48 weeks programme facilitated by Dr. Gubbaiah, retired Professor of UAS-B. Director of Extension, Registrar and Dean (Agri.), College of Agriculture, Mandya participated in the programme.

BAKERY TRAINING UNIT, Directorate of Extension organized 5-days off-campus training programme under the project ‘Economic Empowerment of Scheduled
Caste through Bakery and Value Addition Industry’ under Entrepreneurship Development sponsored by ICAR-SC-SP from 20-24 July 2021 at Ittangur of Anekal Taluk. Similar programme was also organised under Entrepreneurship Development sponsored by ICAR-TSP (STC) from 13-17 July 2021 at Shivalli of Mandya taluk and at Kanasavadi of Doddaballapura taluk from 27-31 July 2021. Skill oriented value added products preparation was demonstrated.

AICRP ON AGROFORESTRY, GKVK, Bengaluru organized a Training Programme-cum- Input Distribution Programme
thon 15 July 2021 at Puttaparti village, Bagepalli taluk of Chikkaballapura district. Seedlings viz., Silver oak, Melia dubia, Mahagony, Mango, Cashew & Coconut and Agricultural implements like sickle, basin and varvari were distributed to 100 Scheduled Tribes. Bund and boundary plantation was done during the programme. Shri V. Bhaskar, Officer-in-Charge of the AICRP briefed about the benefits and importance of the programme to the tribal beneficiaries, Dr. D.C. Hanumanthappa, Scientist (Agronomy) explained the role of bund and boundary plantation. The centre organised similar programme under
thScheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) on 20 July 2021 at Muddalapalli, Bagepalli taluk of Chikkaballapura wherein
seedlings and agricultural implements were also distributed to the 60 Scheduled Caste beneficiaries.
AICRP ON LONG TERM FERTILIZER EXPERIMENTS (LTFE), organized a training programme on Integrated Nutrient Management and distribution of agricultural inputs at Jagaravalli village of Shanthigrama Hobli in Hassan District
thon 12 July 2021 under STC programme. Dr. G.G. Kadalli, Professor and Scheme Head, AICRP, on LTFE explained the integrated nutrient management practices and soil test based fertilizers recommendations in enhancing productivity of crops. Dr. K.N. Muniswamygowda, Dean, College of Agriculture, Hassan distributed soil health cards, fertilizers and improved Ragi variety of GPU-66 to beneficiaries. Similar programme was also organised by

As per the agenda, the ADE of Zone-6, presented the new technologies released for the Zone-6 during 2020-21 for the benefit of extension functionaries. As per the District needs, a special lecture on 'Plant protection chemicals available in the market and their scientific usage' was arranged delivered by the scientists of UAS-B. The extension functionaries interacted with the scientists regarding field problems and solutions were suggested. All the DDAs and ADAs of KSDA and other line Department field functionaries of Mandya district and Scientists participated in the workshop.

Further, he expressed that practicing the seed treatment with bio-fertilizers (Rhizobium and PSB), spraying of the systemic insecticide Imidacloprid 17.8 SL @ 0.5 ml/l kept away the crop from the incidence of sucking pests. a webinar on 'Fish farming for additional income'. Participating in the virtual event, Dr. B.V. Krishna Murthy, Retd. Professor of UAS-B emphasized that the day is commemorated in remembrance of scientists viz., Dr. K.H. Alikunhi and Dr. H. L. Chaudhury who had
thinvented induced breeding technology on 10 July way back in 1957. He enlightened on composite fish culture and tilapia farming in natural earthen ponds or in other water bodies.

Shivashankar, Scientist of KVK explianed the fish rearing techniques and emphasized the importance of composite and mixed fish culture to obtain higher yield and productivity. Later farmers were taken on an exposure visit to Tilapia farming practiced by a progressive farmer.

initiated using recent innovations like wilt tolerant BRG 5 and BRG 3 red gram varieties, neck blast tolerant ML 365 and KMR 630 ragi varieties, HA 4 variety of field bean and short duration KBC 9 variety of cowpea. Other technologies like use of biofertilizers, application of balanced nutrients, crop rotation with ragi in vegetable growing areas to check the pest and disease incidence, earthing-up in red gram, boron spray in sunflower at flowering stage to improve the seed setting, etc., were demonstrated in collaboration with respective KVKs, EEU, Mysore and College of Agriculture, Hassan and Chintamani.

developed agro-ecology specific rainfed technologies in rainwater management, cropping systems, soil and nutrient management, farm mechanization and alternate land use systems. These technologies are integrated into development and policy programmes at national, state, district and watershed level such as NICRA, NRAA, NMEA, RKVY, PMKFY, National Drought Manual, DFI in Rained Areas, Krishi Bhagya scheme and Dryland Farming Mission in Karnataka. Real-time contingency plan implementation in the domain under NICRA helped in operationalization of district agriculture contingency plans. The outreach programmes of the project enhanced the capacities and livelihoods of the dryland farmers.

ICAR-KVK, RAMANAGARA in collaboration with IFFCO and Department of Sericulture, Magadi organised an awareness programme on 'Use of Nano Urea (liquid) in Mulberry' for
ndsericulture farmers on 22 July 2021. Mr. Subramanya, Manager, IFFCO briefed the history of development of Nano Urea and said the first Nano fertilizer was developed by IFFCO-NBRC Kalol, Gujarat which contains 4% Nano Nitrogen particle for efficient use of Nitrogen. Dr. Preethu, Soil Scientist of KVK highlighted the details of Nano fertilizer. The foliar spray of Nano Urea was demonstrated at farmer's field.
