UAHA Celebrates Connued from page 4

    Leer from UAHA President

Dear UA Hispanic Alumni Club Friends,

I wish to extendun abrazote and say that it has been apleasure and an honor to have served as your president for the

last two years. Many years ago, I was asked to join the UAHA

and its mission to beer our communitys future by enhancing

the opportunies of our Hispanic students and alumni. It is

with great pride that I can say we have done just that through

collaboraon, innovaon, and the eorts of so many dedicated individuals.

We have had many successes with our student scholarship and retenon

programs (Success Express and Leadership & Retenon) with connued growth

and unsurpassed graduaon rates among peer instuons. Working together

with others at the UA and in Tucson, UAHA has been part of innovave methods,

helping to ensure equal and accessible educaon for our leaders of tomorrow.

Many of you have joined us at mulple UAHA events on campus and have visitedwith UAHA scholarship recipients...weve had a wonderful me together. Our 25th

Annual UAHA Scholarship Dinner was a great milestone for us as a club and as

part of our growing community. It is with this type of collaborave support system

that we have prospered and endured the dicult economic mes.

Many of you are aware of the 2009 budgetary issues that endangered our

Chicano/Hispano Student Center along with other ethnic Centers. As a community,

we saved these respecve Centers and maintained the integrity of the UA as a

land grant instuon. Likewise, you are also aware of mulple bills that have

passed or are being considered by our State Legislature that are quesonable at

best. Through connued collaboraon, innovaon, and joint eorts I am sure we

can help create an inclusive, posive, and producve path for a beer today and

    a greater tomorrow.

Once again, I thank you all for your eorts as UAHA members, volunteers,

friends, and Board of Directors. I look forward to the UAHAs 50th Annual

Scholarship Dinner in years to come. There, I will reect on how we all contributed

to a wonderful mission and most certainly be awed at what more we have

accomplished as UA Hispanic Alumni Club scholarship recipients and proud

    alumni... Bear Downamigos!

    UAHA would like to

    congratulate the following
