Department of Biology Western Kentucky Univers ity

WESTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY

BOWLING GREEN, KENTUCKY 42101

Department ot Bioloi}' July 1988

Dear Biology Alumnus,

Another year has rapidly passed and I wish to update your knowledge of the Department of Biology at Western Kentucky University and share with you information about your fellow alumni. I hope that the past year has been a productive and healthful one for you and yours.

As promised last year, the newsletter has been changed to include more information about alumni. If you returned the questionnaire last year, the information provided appears in this issue. Please use the questionnaire this year to update the information for us so that your biology classmates may know of your present location, position and activities.

In general, 1987-88 was a year of turmoil for the Department of Biology. Asbestos removal and renovation in our building severely restricted its use. We are presently returning to our offices and laboratories. Although we had a disrupted existence, the faculty and students were quite successful and several individuals had an outstanding year.

We extend our deep appreciation to all of you who contributed to our department either through regular scholarships or contributions to the Biology Developmental Fund through the College Heights Foundation. As the cost of equipment and supplies continue to increase, your generous gifts will be appreciated and used to improve our facilities and programs.

I trust that you wilt enjoy our attelnpt to improve the newsl etter. Your cooperation in making us aware of your activities will certainly add to future issues.

Sincerely,

~~~~~ Department of Biology
