the job. In this session, we’ll spend time

sharing the hints, tips, and techniques that

local units have used to grow their youth

membership substantially.  No matter how

much school access your unit has, this

How is the Council funded?

(Understanding the Family Friends

of Scouting campaign)

Every year people give money to the Family

and Community Friends of Scouting

campaigns. Unfortunately, many volunteers

and families have no clue what happens

with that money. This session is a look at

what happens with the funding provided

through the various fundraising campaigns.

The session is going to explain to you how

we collect it, why we do it, and where we

spend it. You can then share this

information with others within your unit.

GEN GEN-354 Marketing your unit to the public.

This course will show you how to develop a

strong unit marketing campaign to share

your story. Today we are surrounded by

many types of media. As we read the paper,

scroll through our Facebook feeds, and look

at great photos on Instagram, we often miss

our chance to promote the positive impact

that Scouting is having in our local

communities as a whole. Whether it is a

recruitment event, an awards ceremony, an

Eagle Court of Honor, or an

acknowledgement of our ‘Daily Good

Turns,’ it is our responsibility as a

community to share the information with

the public. The more we talk about

Scouting, the more people will see it, want to

be a part of it, and support it.

Summer camp programs; a. Cub

Scout Resident at Camp Hart;

b. Cub Scout Day Camp; c.Boy

Scout Resident at Ockanickon

Washington Crossing Council offers a

number of opportunities for all of our youth

to experience an outdoor program each

summer. This course will spend some time

to look at each of these opportunities. Come

prepared to discuss what you need as a unit

leader for camp promotions so you can

make an informed decision. Youth who

experience an outdoor program during the

summer have a tendency to stay in Scouting

longer. Let’s work together to deliver this

opportunity to all.

GEN-356

GEN GEN-360OSR – An under-utilized

Ockanickon Scout Reservation (OSR) is

more than a 8-week summer camp facility.

Whether you have been to OSR for a unit

camping trip, a District event, a training

session, or for a meeting, OSR is available

for use throughout the year for all ages.

Come talk with Washington Crossing

Council’s Director of Program and a few

volunteers to hear about what opportunities

are available for the youth in your program.

This session is intended to be a discussion

group on OSR facilities, programs, and the

sharing of ideas for future programming.

GEN GEN-362The positive impact Journey To

Excellence can have on your unit.

When Journey to Excellence was

introduced, it was intended as a measure of

successful units. Those units who use JTE

can plan and chart a course to make them

more successful than they currently are.

Most of the time, they are simple changes,

but if we look at every piece of the JTE

scorecard and implement changes in the

areas we are lagging, we as leaders will

ultimately be offering a quality program for

boys. It's what they deserve!
