Have your child plan to play with a friend or a family member on the weekend. Have your child ask Can you play on (Saturday)? If no one is around, have your child ask you the question. Respond, saying Yes, I can. I’m free. or I’m busy. No, I can’t. Encourage your child to ask other friends or family members to play on Sunday. Talk with your child about activities that he or she can do with his or her friend.

Encourage your child to write and draw stories of his or her own, using the phonics words.
