Using Technology to Support Common Core

Common Core Standard Blended Learning ExampleReading Standard 7: Integrate and evaluate content presented in diverse media and formats.
Using print resources and digital resources such as online databases, eBooks, audiobooks, video and the Internet.
Writing Standard 6: Use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing and to interact and collaborate with others.
Students become producers of writing using digital storytelling, Storykit (app), blogs, Adobe and Scratch programs, and collaborators using Google Docs and wikis.
Speaking & Listening Standard 2: Integrate and evaluate information presented in diverse media and formats, including visually, quantitatively, and orally.
Students use PowerPoint/Keynote, Voicethread, podcasts, Garageband, and other programs to present information and research to others.
Language Standard 4c: Consult general and specialized reference materials (e.g., dictionaries, glossaries, thesauruses), both print and digital, to find the pronunciation of a word or determine or clarify its precise meaning or its part of speech.
Use digital learning tools such as Text to Speech, online pronunciation guides, and scroll over, online dictionary to help build vocabulary.
