washbasinswashbasinsThis section contains details of a range of washbasins suitable for the varying requirements of appearance, space, plumbing and cost. The types of washbasins are:

other basinswall recessed handrinse basins: For use in cloakrooms, WC compartments and other locations where space is restricted. basins mounted in range form (wall mounted): For installations where a number of basins will be in constant use. Vecta stainless steel basins are shown in the stainless steel section.

pedestal basins: Co-ordinating ceramic pedestalsare used to screen waste fittings and service pipes and support the weight of the basin where it is fitted to a non load-bearing wall. The pedestal must be secured to the basin and the basin secured to the wall using woodscrews or wall supports as applicable. The pedestal is screwed to the floor.

washbasin taps and fittingsBasins are available in a variety of taphole punchings to suit a range of taps and supply fittings. Details are shown on each product page. Brassware recommendations are also offered on each page. A full range of taps and fittings to complement Twyford washbasins is featured in the Brassware section.

wall hung or semi-pedestal basins: These arefor fixing with the bottle trap either exposed, or concealed by a semi-pedestal. The method of fixing to a suitable load-bearing wall is shown on the relevant product pages.

countertop basinsThere are three fixing methods for countertop basins: self rimming: The basin is fitted into a cut-out with its rim standing above the countertop. The rim must be sealed to the flat surface, using silicone building sealant. No mechanical fixings are necessary. Suitable for all types of standard countertop material. undertop fixing: A cut-out to match the inner bowl shape is made in the countertop and the basin is clipped to the underside of the countertop. Primarily intended for countertops of real and simulated marble or other water-impervious material.

semi-recessed: The basin fits part way into the countertop, leaving the front of the basin projecting. Suitable for all types of standard countertop material.
