Fuzzy Beaver lookalikewithdrawn from market

US manufacturer Riot Baits has acted to prevent the sale of a lure that bore a ‘striking resemblance’ to its famed, patented Fuzzy Beaver (right).

The company put Global Anglers – trading as Gambler Lures – on notice of patent infringement and demanded it cease and desist its activities in relation to its Stinger lure. Following a review of the patent, it has entered into a settlement agreement to avoid further action.

Africa’s oldest fishing magazine changes hands

Africa’s oldest recreational fishing magazine has changed hands. Tight Lines, which was established in 1960 by two avid anglers, was the only publication in South Africa that covered all species and angling disciplines in both freshwater and saltwater angling.

It has now been taken over by All Lion Enterprises (Pty), of Johannesburg, the publisher of The Bank Angler, The Bass Angler and The Carp Angler magazines.

It has been relaunched by the new owner as a saltwater publication with a strong emphasis on angling-based tourism.

Match ace celebrates 30 years with Browning

One of the world’s best known match anglers has celebrated a 30-year association with Zebco Europe brand Browning and been hailed for his part in its success.

English angler and former world individual and team champion, Bob Nudd (above centre), was presented with a special edition Browning pole to mark the achievement.

Zebco Europe Operations Director Frerk Petersen (above left) said: “Browning would probably never have become so popular without Bob Nudd. The brand and the man are inextricably linked.”
