Twingo Avatar- a photo or icon used as a visual ID; it

appears on your homepage and accompanies each of your tweets

Block- A check box feature that allows you to stop a person from seeking your tweets

Direct Message of DM- When two tweeters follow each other, they can exchange private messages.

Follow- A button under each person’s home-page avatar. You click to see when that person posts a tweet

Handle- the unique name that identifies you in Twitterville

Hashtag- A short number of letters preceded by the “#” sign, such as #gaza, #TCOT, #SNCR. This allows people interested in an event or topic to use Twitter Search and easily find all tweets on the topic in a single stream.

Retweet- The act of reposting someone else’s post with attribution, usually as a form of recommendation. Increasingly used as a measure of Twitterville engagement.

Stream- A common shortening or tweetstream

Tweeple- people who tweet Tweeps- twitter pals Tweet (n.)- A twitter post Tweet (v.)- The act of posting on Twitter Tweeter-one who tweets Tweetosphere (also Twittersphere- The

entire Twitterville community Tweetstream- Any series of Twitter posts. Tweetup- Face-to-face meetings by people

who tweet. While it can be just two people, there are informational gatherings of tweeters happening all the time; also called Tweetups.

Twitterati- 1. People passionate about Twitter. 2. Twitterville luminaries

Unfollow- when you start following a tweeter, this replaces the follow button. Click on it if you ever wish to break off dialogue with someone
