Hispanics Learn is a bi-lingual coaching, training and consulting company geared towards helping the Hispanic Community embrace and learn digital technology.

Twitter History2.1 Privated owned company Headquartered in San Francisco, CA; Has raised nearly $100 million in VC funding; No ‘obvious’ revenue model in place

2.2 Launched in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone and Evan Williams under a start up JV named Odeon-Twttr under Obvious Corp.

2.3 In April 2007 Twitter spun off to form it’s own Company “Twitter”

2.4 Initially was intended to be ‘city centric’ where people could sms from their phones to send a message to a small group of friends (followers) about new places they discovered, what they thought was hot etc.

2.5 As of Feb 2009, had approximately 5 million registered users

What Are You Doing?3.1 Twitter is considered “Microblogging” i.e status updates where messages are limited to 140 characters or less. Everybody on Twitter is answering the question “What are you doing?”

3.2 There is a mega huge public timeline that tracks everyone registered on Twitter (who chooses this option).

3.3 Another public timeline is dedicated to you (managed by you). It includes the people you follow and the people who follow you.

Twictionary & Twitiquette4.1 Tweet(s): The term given to the 140 character messages that you are sending out.

4.2 Tweeps/Tweeples: All the people in the Twitterverse who are sending out the Tweets

4.3 Handle/Alias- your Twitter Name @teenbizcoac

4.4 To reply to a tweep precede your message with @ (it can be viewed by anyone, but it will go into the replies message of the intended recipient so they will see that you sent the message.

4.5 RT/Retweet To share a message or useful information tweeted by one of your tweeps copy the message and precede the Tweet with “RT @twitterhandle” Retweet is highest form of ‘gratitude’- because it is how a tweep and a message becomes ‘viral’

4.6 DM (Direct Message) If you don’t want others to see your message you can DM the recipient but you can only DM if you are following them and they are following you back.

Some people say that I make things look too easy…I say…they make things look too difficult.

Twips6.1 Twitter Handle: When choosing an alias choose something that

describes 12 characters or less recommended

6.2 Bio: fill out the 160 character bio with a focused theme on what you want to accomplish with Twitter instead of lots of random things. If you can focus your bio then you will “pre-qualify” your followers.

6.3 Twitter Tools: Certain Twitter apps let you manage ‘Groups’ i.e. Friends, Media, Favorites, and also future date Tweets allowing you to set it and forget it (it takes a bit of time to initially set up but is worth it the long run).
