Junior Golf has begun with three different age groups and times. Please check out
www.twinlakesgolfclub.com for schedules and lessons. Not only do the kids learn
golf skills, they also are taught golf etiquette. This is evidenced by the many Juniors
who come in the clubhouse after their lessons. We have some very nice Juniors!

From the Manager
A s July starts, it is a good time to consider what a dif-
ference in weather we have experienced this golf sea-
son as opposed to last year. By this time last season
our rough was completely dormant, and water supplies were
strained. The cooler temperatures and increased moisture this
year in combination with a sound agronomic program has re-
sulted in great playing con-
ditions.
Last month we were able
to make good progress in a
lot of cosmetic areas. Sod
was laid along the cart paths
at #1 tee and #9 green. We
also sodded along cart paths
at #12 and #18 greens. Sig-
nificant areas of rough were also sodded on the fourth and 13th
holes. Progress was also made in an ongoing project to level
and raise irrigation heads along with existing valve boxes. This
will improve our irrigation efficiency.
This month we plan to resume verticutting of greens when
the weather will allow. Also in the plans are aerification of
collars, tees and fairways. None of this would be possible
without the help of a great crew. My assistant and equipment
technician, Ron Summitt, is now in his second season, and
Foreman Josh Blazier is in his tenth. These two people bring a
lot of experience to the club.
Please remember to repair ballmarks, replace or fill divots,
rake bunkers and be careful with golf car operation.
DDDDIDIDIDID YOUYOUYOUYOU KNOWKNOWKNOWKNOW: In a thick,
healthy lawn there are six
turfgrass plants in each
square inch, 850 turf plants
in a square foot and about 7
million in an average 8,000
square foot lawn.
John Westermeier, CGCS
I hope this reaches you in good health and spirits. Sum-
mer is officially here; hopefully it will be a milder sum-
mer for a change. The weather this season has been very
inconsistent; we have not had many good weekends to enjoy
golf. I am sure we will have lots of nice golf weather to enjoy
this summer. The golf course is in great shape. Please come
out to enjoy it!
Make sure to check the golf calendar. There are a lot of
fun events this month for everyone to enjoy. A few of the
events this month are: Men’s Member/Member, Ladies Stee-
plechase, Ladies Friends Day and Couples Guest Day. Also
Junior Golf and Couples Golf continue this month. If you
have not been able to come out on a Friday night for golf or
dinner, please try to experience one. Chef Jeffrey always has
a delicious meal, and there is always lots of fun being had by
all.
The week after July 4th construction on replacing the roofs
on all three buildings will start. We will do our best to keep
this to as little of an inconvenience as possible, but it will be a
little noisy around the clubhouse. After the roofs are com-
pleted the exterior of the clubhouse will be painted and the
awning on the back veranda will be replaced. Neither of these
projects will impact you from using the clubhouse or golf
course. It will look great when everything is completed!
I would like to welcome all the new members and thank
their sponsors. If you see a new face, please introduce your-
self. It is our goal for everyone to experience a warm wel-
come to Twin Lakes. Since we have been fortunate to keep
our membership stable and have a successful membership
drive, this year we have a very minimal dues increase (less
than 2%). It is Twin Lake’s continued goal to provide its
members with an excellent golf course and club operations at
the best value in the area. I wish everyone a happy and safe
4th of July!
