TWI DELIVERS TRUSTED THIRD PARTY DUE DILIGENCE PROGRAMS TO GLOBAL CUSTOMERS

For a supply chain organization like TWI, which operates in many remote and austere environments, it’s critical to have a true understanding of those that you are doing business with and who are supporting and representing your organization across the world. When we know our third parties and their capabilities, we then know their strengths and are able to collectively build the foundation to ensure efficient and ethical project execution. As we continue to develop our pool of global third parties, we continue to ask and answer questions regarding who we are doing business with and how will it affect our customers worldwide.

As TWI’s traditional markets continue to evolve on a daily basis, there is a greater emphasis placed on companies to perform proper due diligence as a part of the risk mitigation process. Throughout international markets across the globe, the need for a robust third party due diligence program is becoming a clear mandate.

There is an old saying that says an organization is as good as its suppliers are. Having the knowledge and understanding of the third parties you work with is

one of the first and primary principals toward operational success. On the other hand, not having the knowledge of your third parties without proper due diligence, you provide a gap for your organization to face an exponential amount of risk. When I think about the performance of our third parties and TWI is viewed by our customers, I tend to think one thing and one thing only – there is only one chance to make a good first impression.

TWI has utilized its developed compliance programs to offer tailored and scalable third party due diligence programs.

As a leader in providing compliant, ethical supply chain solutions, TWI has helped develop a comprehensive list of compliance and due diligence programs in support of US Government customers, including the General Services Administration (GSA) and the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). Through its partnership with its US Government customers, TWI helped build programs to inspect, audit, and approve various commodities, including construction material, fresh fruits and vegetables, and other food-related products. In addition to these due diligence initiatives within the US Government market, TWI’s acquisition of the oilfield distributor Safar Oilfield Services carried us into a new industry that had the same high standards toward compliance and ethical business processes.

With the acquisition of Safar, TWI has further developed its tested and trusted compliance and due diligence programs to deliver for a new range of customers throughout the Middle East, Central Asia, Europe, and Africa. Throughout our support of the oil and gas market, TWI and Safar have conducted and successfully passed multiple audits with large oil and gas organizations as a part of customers’ pre-qualification processes. Several world-renowned organizations have inspected, reviewed, and applauded TWI and Safar’s due diligence and compliance programs in key areas such as procurement, inventory, and delivery.

Furthermore, TWI has utilized its developed compliance programs to offer organizations throughout the oil and gas market and adjacent markets tailored and scalable third party due diligence programs. As organizations continue to expand across the globe, TWI provides trusted systems and processes that ensure global organizations with a compliant, streamlined third party due diligence program.

It is the belief of TWI, Safar, and our employees that it is everyone’s responsibility to know who we are doing business with. By knowing our third parties both near and far, it only makes us a stronger and more successful organization that passes the benefits onto our customers, shareholders, and employees.

GLOBAL GOVERNMENTS AND ORGANIZATIONS DELIVER CRITICAL SUPPORT IN EFFORTS AGAINST EBOLA

In support of the initiative to combat Ebola, the US Government announced that it would provide up to 4,000 troops to help build, secure, and support up to (17) Ebola Treatment Units (ETU) throughout Liberia. These ETUs would be constructed to help health workers treat those showing symptoms of the virus.

With the expected increase of US Government activity in West Africa, there was an immediate need for a comprehensive list of construction supplies to be delivered to Liberia. Within days of the announcement, TWI began delivering urgently needed building materials and heavy equipment for the establishment of the temporary facilities in the fight against the Ebola virus. TWI worked closely with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to source large amounts of lumber, plywood, gravel and other construction materials through its vast network of local suppliers in Liberia. Through our global team of procurement and logistics professionals, TWI was ready to respond to DLA’s requirements and deliver the first set of materials within hours of award.

Since its beginning in December 2013, the current widespread outbreak of the Ebola virus disease has swept through the African nations of Liberia,

Sierra Leone, and Guinea, causing a significant rate of mortality. With over 18,000 cases and almost 7,000 deaths reported in the past 12 months, the spread of the Ebola virus caught worldwide attention over the summer. In July, the World Health Organization (WHO), a United Nations agency which coordinates international responses to disease outbreaks, collaborated with multiple countries on a strategy to combat the outbreak. Following this collaboration, the WHO designated the outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern, an event that had only previously occurred twice.
