Peace of Christ Jesus! I am pleased to share with you our annual Financial Report Summary ending fiscal year, June 30, 2018. A deep gratitude to our Finance Council, trustees and auditors that work so hard behind the scenes to make stewardship such a strong part of the vitality of our parish. Our parish continued a pattern of growth adding new families bringing our total families to 1430. Our annual offertory saw an increase of several thousand dollars. Thirty additional families started using online giving (Faith Direct) bringing to 166 those that utilize electronic giving. Our parish continued its steady support for the poor and the needy here in Rhode Island by surpassing our Catholic Charity Drive goal. Also, we are sending two mission groups (men’s mission to Jamaica and teen/adults to Dominican Republic) to Mustard Seed orphanages for the disabled and abandoned. Our capital campaign, “Honoring our Past, Consecrating our Future” is at $1.6 million dollars with $687,560.00 already collected and many pledges coming in regularly. The engineering and design phases have begun at the St. Veronica Parking lot and for the St. Thomas More Parish Hall renovation. Construction should begin in the spring on the parking lot. Thanks to all who have sacrificed so much to make our goals a coming reality. Our parish graciously received a bequest of $13,657.32 from the estate of Geraldine Carley, which was placed in the St. Thomas More Endowment Fund. Adding to the endowment fund enables us to grow for the long-term growth and financial security of our parish and mission. We welcomed Lynn Bamford, as the first ever Stewardship Director to help us grow in offering our time, talent and treasure. Recently, we hired a new bookkeeper Sofia Macera to our staff. In short, our parish is blessed with a generous spirit in so many ways, especially those who give of their prayers, service and resources. Please know how grateful I am for your love for the Lord, the Church and His people!

Fr. Taillon Pastor

He Embraced Them and Blessed Them Today Jesus stresses how children embody the reign of God. They are trusting and loving and have hearts that are open to love. They are joyful when they are made aware of God's love for them, and are eager to return that love. This is the model Jesus holds out to us if we want to welcome the reign of God. We need to have open, loving hearts. We must drop our defenses, however we came by them, and welcome Christ's love for us with joy. This is impossible for us on our own. Only the grace of God will enable us to do this, but that grace is freely and generously given. We have only to accept it.
