MONSIGNOR WOY’S MESSAGE FOR THE WEEK
TOP THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS WEEK:
Dear Friends,
This is Catechetical Sunday, when we ask God’s blessing on all those who teach the faith to our young people. There will be a
blessing of catechists (religion teachers) from both School of the
Cathedral and the Sunday School of Religion at the 9:30am Mass.
The Sunday School of Religion commences with classes on
September 22. If you have yet to register, please do so by
Wednesday 9/18, so that adequate preparations might be made for
the new year.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) resumes this Sunday
at 9:30am Mass. Parents whose children are not familiar with
CLOW or who are timid in going to the undercroft are invited to
accompany their children.
By the time you read this, the 7th Haiti Carnavale (Saturday, 9/14)
will have happened. Many thanks to Katie Sunder and her team
for all the hard work and effort that goes into making Carnavale
happen.
This Wednesday, September 18 is the first Youth Group Drop In
from 7:30pm to 9pm in the Youth Room of the Parish Center.
There is no agenda other than high schoolers to gather to enjoy
each other’s company. “Drop In” will take place every week.
Next Sunday, Archbishop Lori will be at the Cathedral for the 9th
Annual Filipino Festival honoring San Lorenzo Ruiz and San
Pedro Calungsod. The celebration begins with Mass at 2pm, followed by a festival on the Cathedral grounds. This annual
celebration fills the house and it is a pleasure to welcome the
Filipino Community and their chaplain Fr. Pete Literal to the
Cathedral.
Next Sunday is also Service Sunday. The Casserole Club will
meet after the 9:30am Mass in the Undercroft to prepare casseroles
for Our Daily Bread. Loaves and Fishes will meet at 2pm in the
