Dear Parishioners and Friends, Jesus' apostles o en called him not by name, but Rabbi. He never asked for a tle. This direct rela onship He had with people is astonish-ing. We too, o en call Him by name. I do not know whether any head of state or someone with scien fic, poli cal or religious authority would ever allow such a thing. We can also ask ourselves the ques on that Jesus asked the people, who they think He is. What we really think of Him is essen al to our lives, our choices, and our salva on. Most of us are not aware, that we carry a mis-shapen image of God in our mind. How many people sus-pect Him of malice or indifference, or think that He is a de-manding perfec onist, harsh tyrant, a jovial old man, or a cold president? How many people blame God for all their failures, or are mad that He does not give them paradise here on earth? Many of us form the image of God himself, based on our own father or mother. Others rely on media nonsense such as "The Da Vinci Code" or "The Gospel of Judas". What is the real truth about Jesus Christ, the hu-man God? Only He alone can tell you who He is. That is why He provoked His students to answer His ques on. On be-half of the Apostles Peter answered, "You are the Messi-ah". Peter's a empt to ameliorate the Messiah was very interes ng. He wants to believe in Christ without a cross. It is a great tempta on of our small hearts: to know God, but not to see the truth about the suffering that He took upon Himself for our iniqui es. Think about whether or not this is also your tempta on? Do you have the courage to realize that even your sins led Him to His death? I would like to welcome back all children from Summer vaca on. Welcome back to the children that a end St. Constance School, the Polish School of St. Maxi-milian Kolbe and the English and Polish religious educa on program REP. I am glad that we will be able to spend the next year together studying, praying and working hard. Drodzy Parafianie i Przyjaciele,

Uczniowie zwracali się do Jezusa często po

imieniu, niekiedy nazywali go Rabbim. Nikomu nie

nakazywał siebie tytułować. Zdumiewająca jest ta

bezpośredniość w relacjach z ludźmi. My też

często zwracamy się do Niego po imieniu. Nie

wiem, czy którakolwiek głowa państwa albo ktoś z

autorytetów naukowych, politycznych czy

religijnych pozwoliłby sobie na coś takiego.

Pytanie Jezusa, za kogo uważają Go ludzie, możemy

również skierować do siebie samych. To, co naprawdę o Nim

myślimy, jest istotne dla naszego życia, dla naszych wyborów,

dla naszego zbawienia. Większość z nas nawet nie jest

świadoma, że nosi w sobie wykrzywione wyobrażenie o Bogu.

Iluż ludzi podejrzewa Boga o złośliwość czy obojętność, albo o

to, że jest wymagającym perfekcjonistą, nadprzyrodzonym

księgowym, surowym tyranem, jowialnym staruszkiem lub

chłodnym, zdystansowanym prezydentem? Iluż ludzi obwinia

Boga o wszystkie swoje niepowodzenia, o to, że nie zapewnia

im raju na ziemi? Wielu z nas kształtuje sobie wyobrażenie

Boga, przerzucając na Niego obraz rodzonego ojca lub matki.

Inni są zdani na medialne bzdury i sensacje typu „Kod

Leonarda da Vinci” czy „Ewangelia Judasza”.

A jaka jest prawda o Jezusie Chrystusie,

uczłowieczonym Bogu? Tylko On sam może powiedzieć o

sobie, kim jest. Dlatego sprowokował uczniów do odpowiedzi

na to pytanie. W imieniu Apostołów odpowiedział Piotr: „Ty

jesteś Mesjaszem”. Interesująca jest próba Piotra, by

złagodzić obraz Mesjasza. Chce wierzyć w Chrystusa bez

krzyża. To wielka pokusa naszych małych serc: znać Boga, ale

nie dostrzegać w Nim prawdy o cierpieniu, jakie wziął na

siebie za nasze nieprawości. Pomyśl, czy nie jest to też Twoja

pokusa? Czy masz odwagę uświadomić sobie, że również

Twoje grzechy zaprowadziły Go na śmierć?

Serdecznie wiatam wszystkie dzieci po przerwie

wakacyjnej: z naszej Szkoły Podstawowej św. Konstancji, z

Polskiej Szkoły św. Maksymiliana M. Kolbe oraz angielskiego i

poskiego programu nauczania religijnego REP. Cieszę się, że

będziemy mogli razem spędzić kolejny rok nauki, modlitwy i

pracy. Pozdrawiam wszystkich rodziców, którzy podejmują

decyzje i ponoszą odpowiedzialność finansową, aby ich dzieci

kształciły się w szkołach katolickich.

lecia naszej parafii. Bezpośrednio po Mszy świętej, w naszej

„Sali Handzel Center”, będzie miał miejsce obiad i zabawa. Do

tańca będzie grać zespół „The Silver Orchestra”. Wszyscy

jesteście zaproszeni! Bilety na obiad i zabawę w cenie $50.00

od osoby można nabyć na plebanii lub po Mszach św. w „Sali

In an cipa on of the approaching 100-year anniversary of St. Constance Parish, you are invited to purchase from the "Tree of Life" a leaf on which you can place the names of your loved ones: par-ents, siblings, rela ves, friends, parishioners, priests, nuns, etc. Both the living and the dead can be named, so that their memory will last forever. You can have your own name on a leaf or choose to name your family. Proceeds from this project will be used for repairs of the church parking area and parish buildings. There are both large and small leaves on the "Tree of Life". For the engraving and moun ng of each small leaf, the dona on is $250.00, while for each large leaf it is $400.00. The number of leaves is limited and there may not be enough for everyone. Please visit the rectory office to complete all neces-sary transac ons.

“Do you know who I am?” We o en hear the ques on in the context of celebri es who have been busted for some wrong-doing. Like Shia LaBeouf, who per an on-line report raised the ques on a while back a er being found to be disrup ve at a NYC theater performance. Or like Reese Witherspoon, who per the same report was arrested in Atlanta a few years ago in connec on with a DUI incident. In truth, I have always found these news stories amusing, but not because I enjoy the high and mighty being taken down a notch. This I find sad, actu-ally. The humor presents itself when the high and mighty believe that their status puts them above the law. Jesus paraphrases the ques on in two different direc ons in to-day’s Gospel. First he asks the disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” This is an easy one, and I suppose that in today’s world, Christ could have just Googled himself to get insight. Imagine the hits: I nerant preacher. Man of God. Son of Man… But his closest friends certainly have a more informed response. “John the Bap st,” the disciples proffer. “Others, Elijah,” they con nue, and “s ll others, one of the prophets.” Perhaps an cipa ng these answers, Jesus doesn’t even respond to them. Instead he follows up with a second ques on much tougher than the first: “But who do you say that I am?” Just like that, he makes it personal Peter, of course--the ever impetuous, the ever reckless, the ever say-the-first-thing-that-comes-into-your-head--responds immedi-ately, perhaps even before his friends can process the words. “You are the Christ,” he says. And the rest pre y much is history. For Peter. For the disciples. For all of us. “You are the Christ.” Acknowl-edged. But now what? Once we make this determina on in our minds and in our hearts, we have only two choices: follow him, or walk away. And unfortunately, half-in is all the way out. Look at Peter. Even a er his confession, he can’t bear to hear Jesus talking about the suffering ahead, so he takes Jesus aside to rebuke him. But Jesus rebukes him right back, saying “Get behind me, Satan.” So really, who’s zoomin’ who? All of the readings give us an idea of what it means to follow Jesus, and it’s no easy road. Consider Isaiah: “I gave my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who plucked my beard.” Consider James: “If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,’ but you do not give them the necessi es of the body, what good is that?” Consider Jesus himself: “Whoever wishes to come a er me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and that of the gospel will save it.” Ah, there’s that nagging ques on again: “But who do you say that I am?” If our answer matches Peter’s--and if we walk the talk--we’ll never have to ask the world, “Do you know who I am?” In the context of disci-pleship, our love should give us away.

FREE FLU SHOTS Sunday, October 11 As we have done in the past, in coopera on with Walgreens Phar-macy and Alderman John Arena, we will conduct FREE flu shots in the Borowczyk Hall on Sunday, October 11. The flu shots are available to adults and children 10 years and older. Usually our health insurance covers the flu shots, but in case you have no insurance cover-age or your insurance will not cover the service, you will receive a coupon to cover the cost.

The goal of the R.E.P. is to provide religious and liturgical educa on; develop faith concepts and moral forma on; teach prayer to the children. Our program assists the children in their prepara on to receive the Sacraments of Eucharist

(2nd grade) and Confirma on (8th grade). The children are taught by the dedicated catechists.

Registration for the 2015-2016 year is open. Please register A.S.A.P.

First Class starts on Monday, September 14th, 2015 at 6:00pm.

Borowczyka”, będziemy mieli darmowe szczepienia przeciw grypie. Formularze rejestracyjne są wyłożone przy wejściach kościelnych i w biurze na plebanii. Bardzo prosimy aby formularze były wypełnione i zwrócone do biura na plebanii jak najszybciej. Szczepienia obejmują dzieci i dorosłych od 10 lat wzwyż. Zwykle nasze ubezpieczenie pokrywa 100% zastrzyk szczepionki, w przypadku braku ubezpieczenia, lub w przypadku gdyby ubezpieczenie nie pokryło tego szczepienia, każdy otrzyma talon na jego pokrycie.

NIEDZIELA KATECHETYCZNA W niedziele, 20 września świętujemy w naszej Archidiecezji Niedzielę Katechetyczną. Tematem tej niedzieli jest „Strzec godności każdej osoby”. Serdecznie zapraszamy rodziców i dzieci oraz

INFORMACJE O SAKRAMENTACH ŚWI ĘTYCH Chrzty… Sakrament Chrztu Świętego jest udzielany w języku angielskim i polskim. Chrzty w języku angielskim są w pierwszą i trzecią niedzielę, a w języku polskim w drugą i czwartą niedzielę każdego miesiąca. Rodzice są zobowiązani do wzięcia udziału w spotkaniu przygotowującym do tego sakramentu przed planowaną datą chrztu dziecka.
