A BILL FOR AN ACT

RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THETHIRTEENTH REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

1 SECTION 1. The thirteenth representative district

2 encompasses the area of East Maui, including Paia, Kuau, Haiku,

3 Honopou, Kailua, Huelo, Keanae, Wailua, Hana, Kipahulu, and

4 Kaupo and the islands of Lanai, Kahoolawe, Molokini, and

5 Molokai, including Kalaupapa. This is the only and last "canoe"

6 district or disconnected legislative district. Thus, each

7 island area has vastly different capital improvement project

8 needs.

9 The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds for capital

10 improvement projects for the thirteenth representative district.

11 SECTION 2. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall

12 be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are

13 hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of

14 Hawaii for fiscal year 2009-2010:
