Which in turn frequently gives rise to the question of whether this is sustainable in the long-term. Where is this situation leading us? What are the dangers that lurk behind such inequality? It’s an issue that has in the meantime made it onto the G20 agenda. “The benefits of economic growth must be more fairly distributed,” was the message of the last G20 meeting in China. We need a global economy with greater so- cial responsibility. But how should this be financed? It’s a question that’s also becom- ing more urgent in industrialized nations, as more and more jobs are lost in the pro- cess of automation and digitalization. Global 3000 takes a closer look at a number of models under discussion for the fairer distribution of wealth – for example, the unconditional basic income. In 2008 in a village in Namibia, a basic income was paid to 1,000 residents, with no conditions attached. Many have profited from the proj- ect, first and foremost children. The same social experiment has been conducted by a US organization in Kenya for the past five years. Finland also plans to try it out: a pilot project is due to begin there from 2017 in- volving up to 10,000 people. What does the state expect to gain from this? Global 3000 examines these initiatives. Even coupled with will power, oſten it’s simply not enough. For a number of years now, hypnosis has proved it- self to be an effective approach in this area. Because the mind governs the body, hypnosis makes it possible to directly communicate with the subconscious and effectively change behavioral patterns. For example, bad eating habits that have led to weight gain. But hyp- nosis coaching can also be applied to other areas of life – for example to conquer fears and phobias, achieve certain life goals, manage grief or attain top sporting achievements. IN GOOD SHAPE

Losing Weight through Hypnosis To shed a lot of weight or stop smoking – something many people would like to do, but something not everyone can achieve using the standard methods. Even coupled with will power, often it’s simply not enough. For a number of years now, hypnosis has proved it-self to be an effective approach in this area. EUROMAXX

Berlin Illuminated The German capital is set to be bathed in unusual colors again this fall, as light artists from all over the world cast the city’s landmarks in a completely new light. Light projections and 3D light installations will turn more than 200 monuments, buildings and squares into multimedia works of art. A particular highlight is the installation at the famous Branden-burg Gate, directly outside the Euromaxx studio. From 30 September to 16 October, the two event series “Festival of Lights” and “Berlin leuchtet” (Berlin Illuminated) will transform the city into a colossal stage. Euromaxx is there to present the most stunning spectacles.

    ARTS.21

Celebrating Books October is a month dedicated to reading. When the German Book Prize for the best novel is awarded in Frankfurt on 17 October, and the entire industry then gathers at the largest book fair in the world, Arts.21 is right there with its finger on the pulse. In a special edition titled

“Germany’s Best Novels” on 8 October, the magazine devotes itself to the German Book Prize. As a media partner for the prize, Arts.21 broadcasts an exclusive presentation of the six shortlisted titles and their authors. The magazine also asks whether the Book Prize has enhanced the international profile of German literature, and meets the first winner of the award Arno Geiger to assess how his writing career has progressed over the past 12 years. A special edition of Arts.21 on 22 October rounds off the DW literature offensive: with an up-to-the-minute reportage from Frankfurt, reports on the trends and topics of the season and takes an informative trip through the literary landscape of Book Fair guests of honor The Netherlands and Flanders.
