TELEVISION DRAMA TEXTUAL ANALYSIS HOMEWORK Each week you will be expected to make an analytical blog post. This should aim to be around 250 words long. This will help to build your knowledge and skills for the January exam and help Miss Severn to see areas of weakness. You must write an analysis on the ‘technical aspect’ you have been studying the previous week. Each analysis must refer closely to a five minute sequence from a different television drama or British Social Realism Film. These can be found on the M Drive. You should set the analysis out as follows: An analysis of the representation of xxxxxx In ( name of the text) You should then summarise very briefly the key representational issues in the clip. This should be brief and highlight who the key characters are that you will be discussing. This should be no longer than 50 words! You should then analyse the key technical aspect using your notes from the lesson as a guide. Remember it is not about description of the clip or the technique but rather it is about how, where and why a particular technique has been used and the impact it has on the representation This analysis should be posted by 8 o’clock on Sunday evening. Below is a schedule of what you should be analysing each week. Schedule - MISE- EN-SCENE 13 th November - SOUND 20 th November - EDITING 27th November -CAMERA 4th November I will be using clips that will double for planning work for your foundation portfolio so the work can be used twice in the year!
