News at Fareham ………

You should have now received an email from the college regarding your Wisepay accounts. Wisepay is used to put money on your account for cashless vending in the café (using your student card) and also to pay for trips and visits.

Parking permits are now available for full time students that live over a mile away from the college. All you need to do is fill out a form at Reception and then collect your free permit the next day. Any students that drive a moped to and from college will need to register their details with Reception too.

The next phase of the College development will be the demolition of the Southern Site.  You will have noticed that fencing has been erected around the buildings which has reduced the usable width of road.  Care must be taken to ensure that people remain safe when using the roads and when walking to and from the parking areas.  As the days get shorter the risks will increase due to the reduction in street lighting.  Extreme caution is to be exercised when driving on campus and speed be kept to the absolute minimum- Thank you.

Reminders ……

Please wear your Student lanyards (around your neck) at all times whilst on College Grounds. If you forget it, you will need to collect a label from Reception. If you have a lost it, one free replacement will be issued. A charge of £3 will be made after that.

If you cannot attend college due to a medical appointment please remember you must show an appointment card/letter when signing in or out. Otherwise this cannot be authorised without parental consent.

Please note that students must not wear hats/hoodies whilst in College, unless they have a personal/medical issue and have been excused from this rule.

Students must ensure that they are cycling safely and considerably when outside of college. We have been informed by a member of the public that one of our students was seen riding dangerously outside college last week. Please be aware that all students can access free cycling training through Hampshire County Council; If you visit http://www3.hants.gov.uk/cycling/my-journey.htm you can book your free 2 hours training session.

Attendance

It is extremely important that students make sure that they are on time for lessons throughout the day. When you are late, not only does it mean you miss part of the lesson, but you also disrupt the rest of the class and your lecturer. Late slips are being logged and repeated lateness will be monitored by senior management and appropriate action will be taken.

Reporting an absence If you are under 18, we must have authorisation from a parent/guardian of your absence. This

means that a parent/guardian must call the absence line in the morning to inform Karen French of the reason why you will not be attending college that day.

Signing out If you are under 18, we must have authorisation from a parent/guardian that they are happy for

you to leave college. We will call a parent/guardian to get their authorisation before letting you leave the campus.

If you are signing in or out for a doctors/dental appointment it is really helpful if you can bring in an appointment card, this will then authorise your absence and save us from calling home.

Appeal for information

On Tuesday 22nd at around 12.30pm, three males wearing Fareham College Lanyards were seen near to the train station trying to pick a fight with a much younger boy.  A member of the public was so shocked by what she saw, she reported the matter to the College.  Enquiries are being made to identify the students and the Police have been informed.

If anyone has any information as to who these students may be, please contact Gill Sommers or speak to your tutor.
