In this elegant five-star Restaurant in Tuscany, Chef Sebastiano Lombardi’s cuisine is always a lovely surprise, thrilling and satisfying all five senses. The restaurant dining room is a large veranda overlooking the sea, opening onto the terrace facing the garden. The walls are decorated with wallpaper reproducing a drawing by Piero Fornasetti, and original 1960s appliqués created by Italian craftsmen.

Lunch at Castello

This Castle has been the heart and soul of the Marchesi Mazzei story and wine-production for nearly 600 years. Owned by the family since 1435 the estate still retains its original form, that of a tranquil country village, surrounded by 650 hectares of wood, vineyards and olive groves. A cluster of houses, the church of San Miniato and the villa, built at the end of the 1500s, tell the story of a family deeply rooted in the Tuscan tradition.

The construction started in 1701 and was completed in a few years, thanks to the unlimited economic resources available and the cultural and social experience the senator had acquired during his long stay in Rome. The palace was designed in Rome by the architect Carlo Fontana and his son Francesco using measurements sent from Florence in April 1702. The greenery of the spreads out from the façade, creating an ideal continuation of the Palazzo. The fountain, which still receives water from the Orto Botanico Gardens, and the splendid rocaille decorated aviary, crowned by statues, closing off the left-hand side of the garden, are 18th century features that have been brought back to life in the garden.
