Up to now, for TAC SASE FEL facility, we have studied on a dedicated 1 GeV superconducting electron linac based (with TESLA type RF cavities) FEL optimization to scan 1-100 nm wavelength region (a FLASH like facility).
To reach subnanometer region, we studied FEL optimization with electron beam energies up to 6 GeV.

TAC Proton Accelerator Facility (PAF)
Ömer YAVAŞ | Ankara University
24
• TAC Proton Accelerator is proposed as a multipurpose, GeV energy and MW power scale machine
The project will progress in three stages:
Stage 1: an ion-source, Low Energy Beam Transport (LEBT) and a Radio-Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ) (up to 3 MeV);
Stage 2: a 250 MeV linear accelerator, which could be built in two phases – phase 1 is a 3-65 MeV Drift Tube Linac (DTL) and phase 2 is a MEBT and 65-250 MeV SC-spoke cavity and SC-elliptical cavity
Stage 3: a 1 MW proton facility up to 2 GeV – probably a SC-Elliptical cavity
(LE PAF: 3-250 MeV, HE PAF: up to 2 GeV)

TAC Proton Accelerator Facility
Ömer YAVAŞ | Ankara University
25
This proton accelerator facility could serve as a neutron spallation source, a radioactive ion beam facility, a prototype facility to conduct research into accelerator-driven sub-critical reactors, as well as a number of lower energy facilities for use in nuclear, material, biological, and medical sciences.

We organized a National Proton Accelerators Workshop on April 18-19, 2013 @ TAEK PAF Facility to discuss research and application capability of existing TAEK PAF and proposed TAC PAF.
It is planned that this workshop will be realized as annually.
It is planned that LE PAF Facility project will be presented to the MD in 2014
We developed a decision on to sign a cooperation agreement between IAT-AU and SANAEM-TAEK on accelerator research and applications.

TAC Particle Factory
Ömer YAVAŞ | Ankara University
27
Turkish Accelerator Center (TAC) Particle Factory is a super charm factory with the asymmetric beam energy setup consisting of an electron beam with 1 GeV from a linac and a positron beam with 3.56 GeV from a ring, proposed to be designed as a linac-ring type collider at the center of mass energy of 3.8 GeV. A super charm factory with luminosity L=10^35 cm^(-2) s^(-1) will give opportunity to investigate charm physics well further than B factories, benefiting from a boost parameter (bg=0.68) for some processes.

New law on National Research Centers in Turkeyand expected statute for TAC
Ömer YAVAŞ | Ankara University
31
Recently, Ministry of Development prepared and presented to the government a new law proposal together with other related Ministries and authorities to get a new organization of national and thematic research centers in Turkey. It is expected that this law will be approved up to end of 2013.
The main aim of new law is to categorize existing and proposed research centers as national and thematic and to satisfy more powerful management, financial and personnel support to the centers. New law is also proposing a new performance control of the centers by TUBİTAK.
Based on this law it is expected that TAC will be defined as a National Research Center as officially and a new management will be defined. We hope that, just after this arrangement, the TAC studies will be continue as planned and more powerful.

Conclusions
Ömer YAVAŞ | Ankara University
35
TARLA facility is under construction and the first beam of gun is obtained. It is planned that TARLA will be completed in next three years and will be used as a national and regional “user facility”. We have a road map for proposed TAC facilities up to 2025.
This phase of the TAC project will close by the end of 2014.
It is expected that TAC will be officially defined as a National Research Center by new law in one year and new management, financial and personnel regime will come into being. To check the status of planned CDR and TDR’s of proposed facilities we will get the premilinary reports by the end of 2013.
3rd TAC Light Sources International Users’ Meeting | Oct. 5-7 | 2013 | Ankara
Conclusions
Ömer YAVAŞ | Ankara University
36
Institute of Accelerator Technologies will be defined as a research institute by new Higher Education Council law and will have more permanent and contract personnel positions.
It is planned that, LE PAF and SR projects will be presented to the Ministry of Development in 2014.
We want to develope more close collaboration with national and international light sources users’ commmunities to define rich and up-to- date scientific reserach potential for our light sources (SR&FEL) facilities .
It is expected that associate membership of Turkey to the CERN will be realized in this year and this new statute will give us new opportunities for closer cooperation with CERN in frame of TAC studies.
