You need: Empty film canister Fizzy tablets (such as Alka-seltzer) Cup of water (H20) Paper towels Glue Decorations for your canister (googly eyes, colored construction paper, feathers) 1. Use the craft supplies to decorate your canister like a turkey, or in festive Thanksgiving colors. 2. Hold the film canister like a cup and pour in one teaspoon of H20. 3. Break the fizzy tablet in half so it will fit inside the film canister. 4. Count to 3, drop the tablet in the canister, and quickly put on the top. Fizzy tablets contain citric and sodium bicarbonate. Sodium bicarbonate is also known as baking soda and citric acid is like a powdered form of vinegar. Yes, that’s right, it’s basically a baking soda and vinegar reaction! •Adding the tablet to water allows the two chemicals to dissolve so they start reacting – creating a lot of carbon dioxide gas. •Since we put it in a film canister, the gas has nowhere to go and the pressure builds up. •Eventually the lid bursts off and the force makes the Turkey Rocket fly!
