The use of the BLACKPED+ module is only allowed in private, gated areas, for example for sports or marketing purposes. It manipulates the maximum speed settings of your Pedelec or S-Pedelec, set by the manufacturer, which is prohibited by the road/streets’ laws. The BLACKPED+ module manip-ulates the speed sensor signal and therefore the total distance display your E-Bike. The use of the BLACKPED+ module falls under own risk. No liability is assumed for any present and future damage caused to property and / or persons by the installation / removal and / or use. The guarantee of the e-bike is completely extinguished by the use or application of the BLACKPED+, because the in-stallation or use represents a modification or manipulation of the e-bikes (Pedelec or S-pedelec). If your e-bike has an operating license, it will extinguish. Always drive carefully, use protective cloth-ing such as helmets or protectors and do not bring yourself and others in danger. Talk beforehand with your insurance company, so that all areas of your actions are protected. Please note further that other statutory provisions apply in other countries. This is especially true when you are driving with the e-bike in your holidays. Please inform yourself beforehand about possible restricitons and keep principles in mind.

CONTENT

The BLACKPED+ module is interposed between speedsensor and the motor. It measures the actual speed (1) and generates a fake speed signal (2) for the motor controller. The manufacturers motor support limitation at 25 km/h or 45 km/h is removed by generating a lower fake speed (2). Therefore the distance, total distance, speed and average speed values, calculated by the motor controller, are wrong. The actual data is calculated in the BLACKPED+ and sent via Bluetooth to the app in the smartphone. In addition, the module receives data from the CAN bus so that fur-ther information can be displayed.

The app requires at least android 5.1.

3.1 Home screenThe app starts with the search for BLACKPED+ mod-ules. If a module is found, the name, the unique ID, the firmware version, the motor and the reception strength are displayed. Furthermore, it is shown whether the module is paired with the smartphone. If no signal from the BLACKPED + module is received for more than three seconds, the module is "grayed out".

When the smartphone first connects to a BLACKPED+, the PIN must be entered. In the factory state PIN is "000000".

Home screen – optionsTACHO or TACHO + can be selected here as main screen. The unit of speed measurement can be changed (km / h-mph). The "About" option allows you to see the version of the app.

3. BLACKPED+ APP FOR ANDROID

Main screen - my BLACKPED+

The database is for viewing the values of a BLACKPED + without having to connect itself, but no values can be changed in this view. A list from a database of BLACKPED+ with which the app has already been connected is displayed. The app restores a BLACKPED+ when it is first connected, or updates the existing one automatically. By clicking on the BLACKPED+ the main screen opens with the values that the app last received. On the first app start, a demo BLACKPED+ with the address "00: 00: 00: 00: 00: 00" is created. To delete, the BLACKPED+ must be tapped for a few seconds.

Once the app is connected to the BLACKPED+, it reads the data from the module. After all data has been read, the controls are activated and individual settings can be made.

Important After the installation of the BLACKPED+, the e-bike total distance has to be transferred once to the module. To do this, click on the "Total distance" value in the app for a few seconds. An input line ap-pears, where the current total distance of the e-bike must be entered.

Visibility: Can be set between 0 and 240 seconds or "permanent". At 0 seconds the app can not find the module anymore and does not connect.Wheel size: Based on the value set here, all others are calculated, e.g. the speed and distance.Max: Maximum speed with motor support from 15-75 km/h.Speed to divide: Speed at which the BLACKPED+ module divides the speed sensor signal.Module name: Here a name can be entered from a maximum of 9 characters. With "Send", the name is sent to the module.PIN: Has exactly 6 digits. If too few digits are entered, zeros are preceded by the PIN. In the factory state the PIN is "000000". Tuning activation The tuning can be activated by pressing various com-binations of the light button, the walk button and the motor support level TURBO at the Bosch or SPORT with the Giant motor.The number of Walk and Light button operations in each must be done within 5 seconds.As soon as one of the three options has been activat-ed, "Temporary" button, i.e. the tuning, can not be activated via the app.

If the walk button is pressed 6 times, the vis-ibility is set to permament and the module becomes visible to the app until the e-bike is re-started. Press the walk button 10 times to reset the BLACKPED+ to factory state.

3.4 MAIN SCREEN - SETTINGS

4.1 Home screen The app starts with the search for BLACKPED+. If a BLACKPED+ is found, then the name, UUID, firmware version, motor, and the reception strength are dis played. If no signal from the BLACKPED+ is received for 3 seconds, it is deleted from the list. With a tap on the BLACKPED+, the app connects to the module. The PIN "000000" must be entered during the initial connection.

The app requires at least iOS 10.1.

4.2 Info screen Clicking on the "+" symbol on the upper left will start the info screen. There you can see a list of BLACKPED+ with which you have already been connected. By click- ing on the arrow, the main screen opens with the last received data of the BLACKPED+. When the app is start ed for the first time, a demo BLACKPED + with the UUID "000000" is generated. You can delete it by tapping the cell from right to left and clicking on "delete".

In the "About" tab you can see the app version. The speedo or speedo+ can be selected there.

4. BLACKPED+ APP FOR IPHONE

Once the app is connected to the BLACKPED+, it reads the data from the module. After all data has been read, the controls are activated and individual settings can be made.

4.5 SETTINGS

• The app automatically connects to the module, which was last clicked. By clicking on "Back", this can be undone again.• If the connection terminates, the app automatically re-connects to the module. There is then "Reconnect" at the top of the screen.• The BLACKPED+ can be reset to factory settings by pressing the e-bike walk button 10 times with in 10 seconds.• If the visibility is set to 0, the app can't find the module anymore if the connection is terminat- ed.• The visibility can be set to "infinite" by pressing the e-bike walk button 6 times within 10 sec onds. After an e-bike restart, visibility is set again to the value defined in the app. • The iOS app disconnects when it is running in the background. The Android app stays connect ed.• Data is sent 10 times per second from the BLACKPED+ to the app.• The BLACKPED+ can be named after a smartphone, e.g. Samsung.• The BLACKPED+ can not be found if the visibility has been set to 0 seconds.• Data reset in the smartphone is not reset in the e-bike display.• If the data in the Giant e-bike display is reset by the hand control, the values in the smartphone are also reset.• The UUID displayed in the iPhone and Android app for the same BLACKPED+ are different. The UUID is also different in different Apple devices for the same BLACKPED.
