• Four campuses: Lake Shore, Water Tower, Health Sciences and Rome-Italy.

• Three separate library administrations: University Libraries (Main library, Lewis Library and Rome center in Italy), Law Library and Health Sciences Library.

• 1.5 million print volumes, 3,276 print subscriptions, 626,850 ebooks and 135,812 e-journals.

Handling Duplication• Alma migration process tries to ensure that the end-user discovery

(Primo) experience is not affected by any duplication• Primo setup de-dupe to ensure search results are combined where possible• Preferring link resolver versions of e-resources via “ViewIT” end-user service menu

over ILS versions

• Alma migration process ensure there is no data loss by making sure that relevant order information managed in the ILS remains. The link resolver version serving as master for linking/delivery/discovery and the ILS version serving as back-office and management master.

Multiple Campus Issues

• Health Science Library users must log in before accessing any resource, on or off campus.

• Main and Law Library users only need to log in from off campus.

• Health Sciences Library only shares some resources, and does not use Primo Central on their view.

• Provided clear language on Primo front-end to differentiate health science restricted resources.

• Provided script that recreates the patron’s resource request on the other proxy server.

Electronic Resource Access and Troubleshooting Working Group

• Included members from all libraries, and included public services, technical services, and systems staff.

• Met weekly, bi-weekly, and then once a semester.• Used Asana for collaborative work in between meetings.• Developed standards for user interface language and

procedures.• Distributed troubleshooting cheat sheet (on next slide).

Cause: This is an error with the Alma General Electronic Service that creates the ILLiad link. File a Systems Help Request

Link resolver goes to Serials Solutions rather than Primo. (Should no longer occur)

Cause: The vendor has not correctly updated the link resolver. Email Sherri Rollins

An error page for “Missing Resource: Please let us know that we need to add the following to the list of authorized resources:” 

Cause: The proxy server doesn’t include the resource. Email Will Kent

The public note that reads “View Full Text” doesn’t work. (Should no longer occur)

Cause: This is a migrated link from Voyager that may not be accurate. Email Sherri Rollins

No holdings show up for an article from a journal you think we should have. 

Cause: Most likely an OpenURL error. First search for holdings at the journal level to confirm that we do have holdings. Email Martha Spring and Sherri Rollins

Link out to EBSCO database fails to link to article.

Cause: There are several issues with EBSCO links and the Alma link resolver. Search directly in the EBSCO database to confirm holdings. Email Sherri Rollins
