One day while a mousedeer was walking in the forest, he saw a big black snake sleeping under the tree. When he saw the snake, the mousedeer was frightened. When he wanted to run away from the snake, he suddenly fell on top of a tiger which was sleeping not far from the snake. The tiger woke up and took of the mousedeer. He told the mousedeer that he was going to eat him for lunch. Please dont eat me now, said the mousedeer. I have something important to do.

Look, said the mousedeer. That is the kings belt. He asked me to stay here and watch it while he was away in the forest. The tiger looked at the snake and said, That is a beautiful belt. I need a belt like that. Can I wear it? He asked the mousedeer.

Oh all right, said the mousedeer. So he picked up the snake and winded it around the tiger. Then the snake woke up and saw the tiger. The snake twisted itself tighter until the tiger couldnt breathe. The tiger asked the mousedeer to help him. But the mousedeer turned and ran away into the forest.

TEXT 2One day a big ship was broken near a small island. There was only one man survived. He was washed away to an empty island.

The emperor of Chine heard this and wanted the pearl. He sent his two sons, Wee Ping and Wee San to Borneo to steal it. The princes, together with one hundred soldiers, set sail for Borneo in twelve sailing junks.

When they arrived in Borneo they set out immediately to find the famous mountain. Their journey up the rugged slopes of mount Kinabalu proved very difficult. The dragon guarded his cave very fiercely and killed many of their soldiers.

Then Wee San had clever idea. He climbed a tall tree, so he could see the dragons cave. He noted what time the dragon left his cave to hunt for food and what time he returned to it.

Next he ordered his men to make a fake pearl and a large kite. He waited until the dragon left his cave. Then he placed the fake pearl in a bag, slung it across his shoulder and flew up to the mountain-top on the kite. He exchanged the real pearl for the fake one and then his brother pulled his kite back to the ground.

The brothers quickly returned to their ships and set sail for China. They sailed safely home. The Emperor was thrilled with the pearl and gave a big party to celebrate his sons return.

Many years ago, there lived a poor orphan girl named Mah Bongsu. She worked as a maid for a rich woman named Mak Piah. Mak Piah and her daughter Mayang always treated her badly. Mak Piah always instructed her to work hard and often didnt give her enough food. One day, when Mah Bongsu was washing her clothes by the river, she saw a big snake approching. She saw the snake bleeding. Mah Bongsu took pity on it and took it home to cure it.

While Mah Bongsu was attending to it, the snake peeled its skin. Apperently, the skin turned to gold! Mah Bongsu was happy. Everyday, the same thing happened and as a result, she became wealthy. She quit working for Mak Piah. Mak Piah wa curious how Mah Bongsu accumulated her wealth.she spied in Mah Bongsus house and found out that it was the snake which gave her wealth.

Soon Mak Piah asked her daughter Mayang to go to the river, to find a wounded snake. Mayang found and took it home. However, they didnt treat the snake with love, so the snake bit them, which resulted in their death. Meanwhile, the snake at Mah Bongsus house recovered. One day, Mah Bongsu didnt find it. Instead, she found a handsome man at the spot where the snake was. Apparently, a wich had turned the man into a snake.
