North Wagga Public School P&C Association meet 1st Thursday of each month at 6.00pm in the Library
Tuesday 14th July 2015
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome back to Term 3! It was great to talk to the students this morning in the playground and find out about what they did during the holidays! We also welcome Mrs Lucy Walker, who will be working on Fridays to teach some classes while teachers are released. Unfortunately Miss Woodside is ill and is unlikely to be here for the rest of the week. Mrs Makin will replace her on KW. We wish her a speedy recovery.
Yesterday all staff took part in professional learning at two separate combined staff development days in Wagga. The teaching staff attended a presentation and workshops at Wagga High School while the School Administrative and Support staff attended relevant talks and training at Kooringal High. It was a great opportunity for both staff groups to get together with their counterparts and be informed about current trends and policies. And with so many changes happening, to have an opportunity to discuss these with colleagues and senior departmental staff.
Next week we welcome Mrs Hannah Grieve and Benjamin Lord, both in their final year of teacher training at Charles Sturt University in Wagga who will be working in the 3L and 5/6W classrooms respectively as part of their internship program. Both Hannah and Benjamin will be with us for the remainder of the term, gradually taking ‘ownership’ of their respective classes and allowing Mrs Librando and Miss Watt to be released to carry out an in-school project.
Next week our dance program commences, again being presented by Footsteps Dance Company. Jessica from Footsteps will be here each afternoon to take the students through some fun and energetic routines. Footsteps will also be helping us run a disco on Wednesday 22nd July for the students. Kindergarten to Year 2 children can attend from 5.00pm to 6.00pm while Years 3 to 6 can attend 6.00 to 7.30pm. The disco is entirely free and will be held in the school hall.
Education Week will be held from Monday 27th to 31st July. During this week three classes will perform at the Marketplace on Tuesday 28th July. Kindergarten and 3/4S will perform an item at 11.55am. As well some students may be involved in the chess challenge. We are also planning to hold a Book Fair and Open Day that week. More information on this will be printed in next week’s newsletter.
We are moving to a new system of parent online payments , if you wish to, which will allow for payments for performances and school excursions, etc to be paid and receipted from a link on the School website. More information is mentioned in the blue attached to this newsletter.
I hope you enjoy the week ahead.
Brad Griffith, Principal

P&C NEWS
From time to time, students performing at an elite level in a particular field have been chosen to represent our school in competition. It was decided at the last meeting that the North Wagga P & C wishes to recognise the outstanding achievements of students in the areas of academic, cultural and sport fields. Funding has been allocated to assist these students so they can reach their potential. Funding may include travel expenses for example. The P&C sees these students as representatives of North Wagga Wagga Public School and any enquiries should be made to Mr Brad Griffith.
The next meeting of the P & C will be held on Monday 3rd August at 6.00pm in the Library. Please note that during the colder months the time of the meetings has been changed from 6.30pm to 6.00pm
