‘polylAg’ pre-insulAted copper tubeA comprehensive range of pre-insulated tubes is available for use in a variety of end use applications e.g. domestic hot water lines, burying in corrosive soils, laying under floors and concrete slabs (where approved), chasing into walls and masonary, pipework exposed to aggressive environments. the insulation is moisture resistant and chemically inert.
the copper tubing component is covered by StandardsMark License No. 940, with the required marking to this effect, which conforms to AS1432-1990 specification.
polylag premium of nominal sizes 15 to 25 consists of a seamless extruding coating, of lightly foamed flexible polyvinyl chloride (pVc), over copper tubing.
polylag of nominal sizes 32 to 50 consists of micro-cellular polyethylene (polythene) coating, over copper tubing.

copper tube For AircoNDitioNiNG & reFriGerAtioN
An extensive range of copper tube is manufactured specifically to cater for the special requirements of refrigeration gas lines and airconditioning. these tubes comply with the required internal cleanness limits specified in AS 1571:copper - Seamless tubes for Airconditioning and refrigeration.
tubes are factory cleaned and supplied sealed to maintain the cleanness of the bore under normal conditions of handling and storage.
ink mArkingthe tube is identified with an ink marking along its length stating the Manufacturers Name, country of origin, conforming standard, temper and Size.
eg. “crANe copper tube AuStrALiA AS/NZS 1571 1/2h 19.05 X 0.91”
pAckAgingAs drawn straight length tubes are capped on each end and packaged in bundles.
Annealed coils are encapsulated with heat shrunk plastic. caps are included for placement on tube after the plastic is removed. the capping for airconditioning and refrigeration grade tubing is colour coded yellow.

cleAnness requirementsAll tubes are cleaned and sample tested to meet the residue requirement as specified by the codes at 0.038 g/m3 (0.0035g/m2).
tube integrityAll tubes are electronically tested by eddy current method, to the requirements of AStM e243.
positiVe pressure linesAs drawn copper tube to AS 1571 is permitted, with dimensions as specified in AS 1432 type b. For nominal sizes DN 15 and below, the thickness shall not be less than 1.02mm.
VAcuum linesSizes are the same as for positive pressure lines but either as drawn or annealed temper tubes may be used.
note: AS 1571 tube is unavailable, tube must be cleaned as specified in AS 2896.
medicAl gAses grAde copper tubesSafety standards for oxygen and other medical gases require the use of specially cleaned tubing in order to prevent gas contamination, or potential explosions.
oxygen under pressure may cause spontaneous combustion of residual organic drawing oils, if left inside tubes after manufacture. Similarly, oils or other contaminants could cause severe patient problems if not removed prior to installation.
crane enfield Metals are able to provide a wide range of tubes to several international standards for this highly sensitive work.

Although tubes are supplied specially cleaned and capped ready for use, it is the duty of the installer that all regulations covering installation practices are complied with.
particular attention should be given to:1. Storage and handling.2. Site cleaning of tubes and components.3. pipeline gas purging during brazing.4. use of approved filler metals and fluxes.5. post brazing cleaning and visual inspection of all joints.6. Full compliance with pressure and containment testing before
final approval and use.
the methods used by crane enfield Metals for the cleaning and capping of medical grade copper tubing is a documented procedure under Quality Systems Standards AS3902-1987ASo 9002:1987, as covered by Licence No. 0590. the capping for Medical grade tubing is colour coded green and the ink marking includes “MeDicAL GAS”.
r410A rAted tubethe r410A rated copper tube is especially designed to comply with AS4041 pressure piping code. our r410A rated copper tube is capable of withstanding
working pressures of 4121 kpa when the refrigerant is operating at a temperature of 65°c, which is the recommended operating temperature as per AS/NZS 1677 refrigeration systems. the r410A rated copper tube is distinguished by rose colour capping and
“r410A rAteD” becomes part of the ink marking.

mArkingAll pipe will be marked in accordance with AStM A312 showing manufacturer, heat number, size, grade and condition.
finishthe pipe will be annealed in a controlled, slightly reduced atmosphere. because of this, the pipe will retain the lustre and smooth surface typical of a 2b finish. this will enable you to easily differentiate the genuine Australian made product, as imported pipe usually has a rougher white pickled finish. other finishes are available on request.
quAlity AssurAnceAll pipe will be manufactured to AStM A312, ensuring that strict manufacturing processes are followed.
Welding will be carried out using an automatic tiG welding process, with the weld area containing no filler metal and so ensuring the weld is at least as strong as the parent metal.
Subsequent annealing in a controlled atmosphere ensures properties of the weld and of the parent metal are similar. All pipe will be subject to mechanical and hydrostatic testing to ensure that all requirements of AStM A312 are met.

StAiNLeSS SteeL tubeWelded tuberound welded tube is available in various grades, sizes, conditions and finishes as detailed below:
grAdesStainless steel tube can be supplied in the austenitic range, typically 301, 304, 304L, 316, 316L and 321 as well as the ferritic range, typically 409 and 444. titanium and high nickel alloy tube can also be produced.
sizesthe table opposite shows the typical size range. other sizes may be available - please enquire.
tube conditionsthe welding techniques employed result in tube with welds of at least equal strength to that of the parent material. by eliminating the use of filler wire, uniform chemical composition is maintained.
the normal characteristics of stainless steel, high strength to weight ratio, good ductility and excellent corrosion resistance can be further improved by bright annealing, cold working of the weld and cold drawing.
As Welded (AW)As welded tube receives no further treatment after forming and welding, it is used where limited manipulation is to be carried out. it has a smooth matt finish.
As Welded Annealed (AWA)bright annealing after welding increases corrosion resistance and softens the tube for severe manipulation such as bending, expanding and forming.
cold Worked (cW) and cold Worked Annealed (cWA)tube is available in cold worked (cW) and cold worked annealed (cWA) condition. in both conditions the weld area is subject to a mechanical forging process for grain refinement. cWA tube is then bright annealed, an economical alternative to fully welded drawn tube.
Welded drawn (Wd) and Welded drawn Annealed (WdA). by cold drawing tube in AWA or cWA conditions, fine dimensional tolerances are achieved, having excellent uniformity of wall thickness and concentricity, uniform grain structure and hardness. For maximum corrosion resistance this tube is supplied in the annealed (WDA) condition.
seamless (s)Stocks of seamless hollows can be obtained for re-drawing as required.
testingelectrical non-destructive testing is carried out on all welded tube products.
finishesthe natural metallic lustre of stainless steel, which remains during its extremely prolonged lifespan, can be further enhanced by polishing and buffing. this applies particularly in applications for decorative purposes. A number of polished finishes are available.
mill finish (mf)An off the mill finish: roll forming marks are retained and an indication of the weld may be visible.
buff polish (bp)A pleasing bright finish with medium lustre. traces of external weldline and roll marks can be visible.
surfline polish (s/l)A bright and reflective finish, just short of a mirror polish which may have traces of weldline markings.
gentubeSimilar to surfline polish but confined mainly to small diameter light wall tube.
grit polish (gp)produced by centreless belt polishing to the grit size specified by the customer, i.e. 60, 120, 180, 240, 320, 400. there are no roll or weldline markings.
satin polish (sp)Standard grit finish produced by polishing with 120 - 150 grit abrasive, and matches No. 4 finish. on square or rectangular tube the polishing pattern runs longitudinally.
internal polish (ip)internally grit polished tube in lengths of up to 6 metres for diameters of 38.1 to 101.6mm is available.
seAmless tuberound seamless tube is produced typically within the range of 6.4 mm to 76 mm outside diameter in 0.9 mm to 5.0 mm wall thickness.

perMApipepre-insulAted piping systemsoffers flexibility in inner pipe to outer casing combinations to virtually produce any insulation thickness required. (When ordering please specify inner pipe and outer casing size).
the heart of pre-insulated piping is without a doubt the integrity of the polyurethane ie. minimum density requirements and positive displacement of any possible air pockets within the insulation.
the process involves the injection of the polyurethane using the "one shot" method. this method has proven to be extremely consistent.
insulation on both permapipe Above Ground AG and under Ground uG systems is a machine injected MDi (Methylene Di-isocynate) based rigid polyurethane foam.
propertiesDensity 70 kg/m3
K Value 0.023 W/m 0KWater permeability 1-4 perm/incompressive Strength 70-90 psi
AboVe ground systempermapipe AG utilises a choice of outer casing material. the standard being 0.6mm thick Galvabond spirally lockseamed into a tube of required diameter.
Also available are: • Powder coated Galv. • BHP Colourbond • Stainless Steel
* For these specials, minimum runs apply.
outer case diameters start at 75mm and increase in 25mm increments up to 500mm.
reinstAtement of Joints Ag systemAchieved by installing a sheetmetal sleeve around straights joints (or a ‘lobster back’ casing around elbows and a sheetmetal ‘tee’ piece around tees). these have a pouring hole and two 3mm holes for air release cut in the casing. the correct amount of polyurethane two pack is mixed and poured into the pouring hole. When foaming approaches the pouring hole this is sealed with tape. When the cavity is completely filled the foam will extrude from the air holes. the pouring hole is covered with a sheetmetal disc and pop rivets are inserted in the air holes.
under ground systempermapipe uG utilises an outer casing manufactured from HDpe it is uV stabilised to prevent degradation in direct sunlight.
the casing used is substantially thicker than similar imported products. this ensures that possible physical damage due to transport, installation of back-filling is reduced considerably.
outer casing sizes available (mm):90 110 140 200 225 250 280 315 355 400
reinstAtement of Joints ug systemAchieved by the same method as the AG system with the addition of a heat-shrinkable polythene/bitumen wraparound on the straight joints. the bends and tees utilise a primer on sheetmetal, and a vinyl backed bitumen tape wrapover to exclude possible moisture entry.
