Juried High School Art Show 10 students submitted artwork for the 33rd Annual Jur- ied High School Art Exhibition. 8 were selected to have their artwork put on display in the Talon Gallery (open Monday-Thursday from 7:30am - 7:30pm and Friday from 7:30am - 4pm) at NPC located in the Aspen Center. These students and their submissions are as follows: Da- lynn Shellenberger: Empty Wine Glass, Water Splashing in a Cup, and Galaxy Forest. Lily Jones: Out on a Limb. Nikolas Jaramillo: I Don’t Smoke. Jennifer Gemalsky: James. Darrell James Billy: Monument Sketch. Jessica Madrid: My Dog. Rachel Little: Blood Rose, and Two Colors. Kaylee Sassi: Lynx Lake. Three of these students received awards for other pieces of artwork they sub- mitted. Nikolas Jaramillo earned an Honorable Mention Award in Painting for his piece Elizabeth W. R. Grant. Jennifer Gemalsky earned a Third Place Award in Pho- tography for her piece Paige. Darrell James Billy was awarded First Place in Painting for Desert Sky. Strawberry Honey Soda

Ingredients

For 10 servings

1 cup frozen strawberry, thawed

½ cup honey syrup, see recipe

Seltzer water, for serving

Preparation

Add the strawberries to food processor and purée into a smooth paste.

Add the strawberry purée to a small saucepan with the simple honey syrup. Simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes, until slightly reduced. Let cool com-pletely, then strain into an airtight glass container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.

To serve, mix 1-2 tablespoons of strawberry syrup with 8 ounces of seltzer water in a glass over ice.

Honey syrup:1/2 c. water1 c. honeyCombine honey & water in saucepan and bring to boil for about 3 min-utes until slightly reduced. Remove from heat & cool completely.
