Transcript of Try Something New Objective: students select a book from a different author. Age approximation:...
Try Something New• Objective: students select a book from a different author.
• Age approximation: grades K-5: there are two levels of spinners.
• Materials needed: game boards on laminated cardstock; some toy to select an author: tiddlywinks, jumping frogs, a top, etc.
• The basic game:
– If a student doesn’t know what book to check out, they can either land a tiddlywink, a top, or a jumping frog toy on the game mat to get an author.
– The student goes to that author’s section in the library and chooses one of their books.
• Ideas for enhancement:
– I made one primary mat and one intermediate mat. You could make your own of any authors you’ve done author studies for or you will do author studies for.
– You can add your own authors on the perimeter of the mat incase their game piece jumps off the mat.
– Leave this game out all of the time for students to independently use during book selection.
