Basic unit of cosmos = a particle of matter and energy operating in a given state of universal order. 2. What is a living organism? An organism is a living organisation of cells having a given structure and certain functions. A cell is basically an organisation of matter, energy and life. Basic unit of an organism = a living cell with a potential to be actualised. 3. What is reality? Reality is a mental experience (both past and present) of the cosmos, of organisms and their interactions. It is an experience, through the body and mind, of objects, sensations, entities and events, that existed, exist, might have existed or might exist. It is an experience of what is known, knowable, felt, feelable, thought and thinkable. The reference point of reality as mental experience is ego or self, tied to a body- brain-mind complex. Reality = mental experience. Basic unit of reality = experience. No experience = no reality 4. What is experience? Experience is knowledge of or about something through direct observation or indirect information. It is the process of bringing anything specific (including oneself) into personal knowledge or into existence for personal knowledge. Experiencing takes place in the continuous flow of the present while experiences may be related to the past, present or future objects, entities or events.

Awakening to Pure Consciousness: résumé by koosradha

1. What is the cosmos or universe?

Cosmos is an organisation and a movement of matter and energy in space and

time.Basic unit of cosmos = a particle of matter and energy operating in a given stateof universal order.

2. What is a living organism?

An organism is a living organisation of cells having a given structure andcertain functions. A cell is basically an organisation of matter, energy and life.

Basic unit of an organism = a living cell with a potential to be actualised.

3. What is reality?

Reality is a mental experience (both past and present) of the cosmos, of organisms and their interactions. It is an experience, through the body and mind,of objects, sensations, entities and events, that existed, exist, might have existedor might exist. It is an experience of what is known, knowable, felt, feelable, thought and thinkable.

The reference point of reality as mental experience is ego or self, tied to a body-

brain-mind complex.Reality = mental experience.

Basic unit of reality = experience.

No experience = no reality

4. What is experience?

Experience is knowledge of or about something through direct observation or

indirect information. It is the process of bringing anything specific (includingoneself) into personal knowledge or into existence for personal knowledge.Experiencing takes place in the continuous flow of the present whileexperiences may be related to the past, present or future objects, entities or events.

Experiences, in terms of accumulated memories, make sense to an entity onlywhen related to itself or its distinct self. An experience is always ‘about’something specific within the field of space, time and mental recollection.

Dimensions of experience:

(a) Field of experience : the spacious universe containing inert objects, livingentities and ever-changing events in the environment, both outer (in the world)and inner (in the mind). The field is there only as long as there is attentiveconsciousness of the field as an object of experience.(b) Instruments of experience : consist of sensory and other organs of the bodyand their abilities/capacities connected to the brain + any technologicalinstruments or aids, built through scientific knowledge.(c) Processor of experience : the brain complex with its main mental faculties-mind (apprehension: sensation & attention), intellect (comprehension: logical, imaginative & intuitive thoughts), impulse (emotion: feelings & basic drives),memory (recollection: storehouse of past experiences, direct or indirect, conscious or subconscious, personal or collective), ego (identification with thebody and all accumulated experiences and references tied to the body-mindcomplex), morality (notions of right and wrong directing the actions andemotions). These are also instruments of experience as they help to gainexperiences and make sense of them.(d) Levels of experience : conscious (wakeful, presence, with partial or focusedattention), subconscious (dream with semi/residual attention), unconscious(sleep, coma or swoon with no attention).(e) Seat of experience : the conscious/subconscious mind, through whichconsciousness (being or becoming aware of something specific in the field) getsobjectified as things and thoughts, as the instruments of experience and thewhole field of experience. In this sense, mind is the seat that transforms andprocesses consciousness through the instruments of experience (sensory andmental faculties) into everything that exists, existed, might exist, might haveexisted, and might eventually come to exist.

(e) Centre of experience : ego or I-Me aspect of historical personality. It is thepartially conscious consistent cognitive self-centre put together by theaccumulation of experiences, by the continuity of memories associated with aparticular seat of experience in a specific body. The memory-made self, as adominant thought thinking other thoughts, makes ‘as if’ all experiencesoccurred to it and ‘as if’ all experience occurred through its own agency. It is

the essence (subtle stuff) of experience or reality tied to a particular seat of experience in a particular body. It is also an object of experience, born throughthe processing and transformation of consciousness into personal memories thatare kept alive. It identifies with every aspect of recollected experiencespertaining to the particular seat and body operating within the wider externalfield of experience. It also separates itself from the wider external field andfrom other bodies and objects existing therein through a partialisation of attention. To maintain its sense of separateness, it dwells constantly in thememory pond of past accumulated experiences and keeps talking to itself or parts of itself through the ripples of words and images or thoughts. This inner chattering or stitching of words and images gives it a sense of separate existenceand continuity as it grabs and focuses the attention of the mind from theimmediate wider state of experiencing to itself and its own constricted activities.

It thus squeezes and freezes consciousness into a conceptual self-centre, whichcan only apprehend and comprehend life in its own mind-space through its ownwords-images associations and self-talking. It cannot understand anythingunless it talks that to itself and stores that in terms of words and images(definitions and concepts) for future use.

5. What is consciousness?

Consciousness implies living mental knowingness (taking cognisance of anything in existence, including the self thought), through which the objects/things of the world-space and images/thoughts/feelings of the mind-space come

into existence/experience and are sustained. Consciousness is both the world-space and the mind-space and includes everything both spaces contain asobjects, reactions and events. Consciousness is essentially the matter/substanceof experience or reality in whatever form it may appear; it is also the instrumentof experience, the processor, seat, the centre and field of experience.

Basis of experience = consciousness.

Consciousness transformed through experience processing = reality

Reality = objectified consciousness through experiencing and sensory/mentalprocessing.

Consciousness unmodified or untouched by self or self-centred processing=Truth

Pure, unobjectified consciousness or Awareness = Truth

Basis of reality, experience, organism, cosmos, self = Truth

Truth = the basis of everything & everyone, everywhere, every moment.

Truth = pure immediate consciousness untouched, unconstricted by self-centredexperience processing, which separates mind-space with its objects from theuniverse-space. It is a unified field of experiencing or pure awareness devoid of any sense or activity of the separative self.

Pure immediate awareness shines only through meditative experiencing in thehere-now, without the mind holding back to anything specific or projectingforward of anything specific. It shines when the mind-space is not separated

from the universe, when there is no form or sense of identification or separationin consciousness, when there is no self-thought talking to itself through wordsand images stored in memory, when attention is unfocussed.

6. What is meditative presence?

Meditative presence or awareness in the here-now is called Experiencing (v/s.experience stored in memory flowing out as thinking). It is the flow of directexperiencing of the universe without the interference of past experiences, of any

sense of identification or separation, of any form of concentration of attentionduring wakefulness. Meditative presence may be both a cultivated attitude (aprocess) and a realisation (a state). It occurs only when the body/senses & mindrelax completely in the wakeful present moment and when the attention of themind dwells as fully as possible in the immediate experiencing (awareness inthe present) state despite some undercurrent automatic processing andobjectification movements.

In pure immediate experiencing, through openness and sensitivity, unfocussed

attention revels in the silent seat of pure knowingness (I AM or Being), which iswithout measure and without separation. When the unfocussed attention of afully present mind liberates itself from the undercurrent automatic processes of objectification, separation and labelling (processing of experience) and rejoicesin the pure knowingness of its own Being, it then rests in Boundless Oneness. Inthis state of letting-go and deep relaxation, the attentive mind alights onto theOne Boundless Life and lovingly merges into That. That is the Ground of Being, the Absolute upon which all rests and moves. This is the ultimate truthunderlying our consciousness-bound individual existence as human (personal

ego) and being (awareness of aliveness).

When we move out of the boundless field of Oneness into normalconsciousness, we see every appearance, including one’s own body/senses-mindcomplex as modified forms of consciousness and also essentially as a pureawareness encompassing and underlying the modified forms of consciousness.
