TRUSTEE MESSAGE...

Hello Leaders! What an exciting news to hear that Key Club has reached a new record, high membership of 265,456! Congratulations everyone, let's keep growing!

How is everyone enjoying their first few weeks of school? I know everyone is excited to be back with your Key Club families as just as I am! Now that we are all settledin, it’s that time of the year... It’s time to get down to some serious Key Club business! Put your Key Club SWAG back on and let me see you do the "Key Club Style!" :)

I encourage everyone to start out this year with a plan. Know what you want to accomplish, and how you are going to accomplish those goals with your Key Club friends. Never forget that we are all growing SERVANT LEADERS, and your community is waiting for you to get involved. Your home, school, and community needs YOU to serve and make a difference.

Also, be a part of your club’s recruiting team! Go all out on your addiction to service, and spread the word: CARING-OUR WAY OF LIFE. Tell your friends that - no, we don't make keys, but we grow keys that open doors to opportunities and success. Invite everyone to become a part of OUR family!

This month, we have few reminders and updates to share with you. In this issue, you will find many deadlines and new information that you could use to share with other members! Please feel free to use this newsletter to share with your friends and family.

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me any time!

Youth Opportunities Fund Grant Application Deadline Approaching

What is YOF? The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund for Key Club International. YOF grants are given only to Key Clubs and/or club members. This fund uses earned interest to help Key Clubs and Key Club members serve the world by providing grants for service opportunities. The fund also provides academic scholarships for higher education. How much can we receive? Clubs may request funding assistance from $100 to $2,000. *There is only one funding cycle for the Youth Opportunities Fund. The committee typically funds those clubs who are asking for a portion of the total cost of the project, and clubs who are working with other organizations to fund and complete the project. Where does the fund come from? The Youth Opportunities Fund is established through a portion of your Key Club International dues and through the purchase of G. Harold Martin Fellowships. $0.50 of each Key Club member’s International dues of $6.50 goes into this fund. Where can I find the guideline and application? The YOF Grant application is included in the Downloads section of the Key Club Web site under Service. The guidelines for filing the application are in the Guidebook under Board Policies. http://slp.kiwanis.org/KeyClubNew/Libraries/Service/Form_KeyClub_Youth_Opportunity_Fund_Form.sflb.ashx

Applications are due by October 15, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. EST. (must be received by, not the postmark date)

Clubs will receive decisions for funding by mail by January 15, 2013.
