Who we are Tayabali Tomlin is a multi-award winning firm of accountants that believes in striving for excellence by thinking differently, challenging the status quo and changing lives.

We work with some of the country's top entrepreneurs and owner-managed businesses and change their lives by helping them grow, increase profits, reduce tax bills and plan for exit. We change the lives of our team by challenging each and every one of us to excel in everything we do. And we change the lives of those less fortunate; locally through our association with various charities and around the world through our partnership with the global giving initiative Buy1Give1.

We are passionate about business and love helping entrepreneurs make more money and ultimately achieve their goals.

We typically work with owner-managed businesses with turnovers of between £1m and £10m*. Often they have hit a wall. Either they are not earning the profits they deserve or are paying too much tax. They may be growing too fast and suffering from the age-old cash flow issue or perhaps the business has stalled and the owners don't know how to scale past the traditional barrier points.

There is a proven process that has worked for hundreds of firms and it has at its core, three simple steps.

*We also work with high-growth start-ups, those under £1m with big plans and those over £10m (where they may need a Big4 firm to sign their audit report but continue to use us as their trusted advisers).

Trust We’re qualified, regulated, members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. Accountants are one of the most trusted professions in the UK. Trust is at the heart of our relationships with our clients and it must work both ways. But trust has to be earned.

That’s why it’s important for us that we start to develop trust from the very start of our relationship with you.

When you are ready, we will schedule a telephone, Skype or Zoom call with one of the partners of the firm. During that call we will identify the

types of services you are looking for, what you are getting and not getting from your current accountant, start to understand your business, its issues and your concerns. We will explain the work that typically we do with similar clients and what we believe we may be able to do to help.

If you are just looking for an accountant that will only prepare your annual accounts and tax returns, then it’s unlikely we will be right for you. However, if you are looking for one that will meet you regularly to truly understand you, your business and its needs, work with you to develop your business and financial model, help you develop a management control plan to grow and increase your profits, reduce your tax bills and help you maximise your and your family’s wealth - then we may be right for each other!

Share We only work with businesses for whom we can create significant value. We’re looking for a long term partnership with you, one where we are a profit centre and not just a cost. So it’s important that we get enough information from you to be able to determine what we can do to add value. At the end of the call, if you trust us enough, and we you, we will ask you to share with us your most recent full financial statements together with any recent management accounts and budgets/projections (if you have them).

We will use that data to undertake a detailed competitor analysis, to see how you compare, where you are performing well and where you could improve. We will also benchmark your data against industry and business norms and run your numbers through our diagnostic software to see the profit improvement inherent within your business. We will look at the structure from a tax perspective and all the potential tax saving angles.

Discover Once we’ve done the hard work on the numbers and looked at the various tax angles, we will come up with some particular strategies and ideas that we think will work for you.

We will arrange a meeting, talk through those together in detail and you have then got some pragmatic recommendations. We will also discuss with you what we can continue to do to add value to your business. This meeting and everything up to this stage is completely free and without obligation.

If, after that, you would like to discuss working with us, we will go through how we could work together, how we operate, our menu of services and associated fees. We operate a strict no surprise fee policy. The vast majority of our services have fixed fees. For those that do not, we will always agree fees and scope with you in advance of doing the work.

We believe that every client is an individual and therefore create bespoke packages that meet their specific needs. Fees are paid by monthly direct debit (or, in the case of transactional work - agreed stage payments, also by direct debit). To get the conversation started we do have bundles of services that our clients frequently request.
