Trumpet Studies at Washburn University Washburn University Trumpet Studio e Washburn University Trumpet Studio is a vibrant, talented group of trumpeters that has performed at Universities, Middle Schools, High Schools, and Universities across the United States. e Washburn University Trumpet Studio have traveled to perform at the International Trumpet Guild Conference, hear the Chicago Symphony, tour the Schilke Trumpet Factory, attend the MidWest Music Clinic and have masterclasses with the Canadian Brass. e Washburn University Trumpet Studio have also had masterclasses with Joe Burstaller, Chris Martin, Michael Sachs, Jon Lewis, John Hagstrom, Sean Jones, and many more. Alumni of the Washburn University Trumpet Studio have gone on to complete graduate degrees at the University of North Texas, Arizona State University, and the University of Nebraska. As a soloist, Dr. Averett has been the recipient of concerto competition prizes and has been a guest recitalist throughout the Southeast and Midwestern United States with High School and University Wind Ensembles, Orchestras and Marching Bands. As an orchestral trumpeter, Dr. Averett held positions and appeared with the Columbus Philharmonic, the Marion Philharmonic, the Muncie Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra Sinfonicia of Monterrey, Mexico, the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, the Topeka Symphony, the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, the Western-Piedmont Symphony Orchestra, JCC Symphony Orchestra, Hickory Choral Society and the Fort Wayne Bach Collegium. Dr. Averett has performed with a variety of other ensembles such as the Derby City Brass Band, Old Crowne Brass Band, Louisville Metro Big Band, America’s Hometown Band, Ball State Faculty Brass Quintet, e Central Indiana Brass, the Washburn Faculty Brass Quintet and the Fountain City Brass Band.
