Our reception this Sunday will be continuous in Fellowship H all Sunday morning, and you are invited to come before or after your chosen worship service and enjoy refreshments and greet Andy. You a also invited to bring a monetary love giftfor Andy and to place it in the designated receptacle. I was privileged to be a part of the Appreciation Dinner held this past Wednesday evening in Fellowship Hall, to honor all those involved in o Soup Kitchen ministry and especially the Community Dinner which take place at our church every Monday night. Not only were the Key Club an other youth volunteers honored (please see the photo of them on page but we also said a special word of thanks to Ana and the many other ad volunteers present. Our Soup Kitchen ministry is but one of many minis tries we have going on which involve food and hospitality. To that end, are in process of forming a Food Hospitality Team to better coordinate of our ministries involving food and finding ways to promote them (May Martinelli remarked that he did not know that we offer a Community Me on Monday nights, and we need to change that!). The Block Party is on of the other food and hospitality ministries we have going on, but it only has another two Thursday run: July 23 and 30. Even if you haven t bee one yet, you are invited to come to one or both of these final two events Thanks to all who have been so involved and have donated so much.  This Sunday, July 19, my theme under the general heading of Modern Family  will be: Things We ’ d Rather Not Talk About. There are many thi which fall into that category, but the one Im addressing is domestic violence. Sharon Hachtman has been instrumental in bringing awarene to this important and sensitive issue not only in our church but also in th  Annual Conference. A group of us attended a day-long training on the subject in Reading on the first Saturday in June. When it comes to the area of domestic violence, the numbers are truly shocking: it is estimate that one out of every four women will be abused in some way at some point in their lives. This is an area which needs much more attention fro the Christian community, for as the people of God, we can network with variety of local agencies to help provide safety and sanctuary to those most in danger in our communities. I hope we will all be in prayer for th who have suffered abuse. See you Sunday!  Blessings, Pastor Jim (jtodd@esumc. Children’s Ministry News

Sonday Summer Seekers

What is that?

You may have heard these words thissummer, but never really knew what theymeant. Well, in a nutshell, it simply

means Children’s Summer Sunday School. We are

exploring all the wonders and events that God hasgiven us to enjoy, with an emphasis on His Son. Thus far, we have learned about Flag Day, FathersDay and of course 4th of July, and the next fewweeks it will be sun or Son, sand & water. We arehaving a great time. If you have an idea, craft or wantto lend a helping hand, just come down to the lowerlevel of the church on a Sunday morning.Remember, children attend worship with their familyand are dismissed from there to meet a Children’sMinistry adult, waiting for them near the back pew. All children preschool age tthru 5th grade arewelcome to attend.

TWO T’s Golf & Ice Cream Trip

Forks Park and Two T’s are located just below Wind Ga – probably a 20-30 minute trip.

Hopefully families can attend together, but if not, we witransport children in church vans.

Cost for the trip will be $5.50 for 12 & under, adults $6.5this includes golf game & ice cream.

Please respond, noting whether going in van or by per-sonal vehicle by Thursday, July 16th, by notifying PamO’Brien at [email protected] or call (570) 421-3280, 1

From ourVisionTeam

Sometimes I wondeGod wishes hischildren would be apersistent with prayas some businesses

are with trying to sepeople their products. As a business owner ,receive constant calls and visits from peopletrying to sell me something new or trying to"out do" someone on a price of something Ialready have. I commend those individuals ftheir efforts, but frankly, more often than I cato admit, these requests fall on deaf ears anannoy me rather than change my mind. I getired of receiving the same requests over anover again; thankfully, we serve a God whoNEVER gets tired of hearing from us. In facthe longs to be gracious to us. The Bible say

that "God inhabits the praises of his people"(Psalm 22:3). Hopefully, the congregation will not grow wein prayer , and will continue to pray for thedirection of the chur ch, especially now that tdiscernment team is analyzing the feedbackfrom the listening sessions. We receivedseveral new ideas and were greatlyencouraged that people are also expressingmany of the same concerns for the future ofESUMC . As you remember the Vision Teamthis week in prayer, we would ask that youmeditate on the following passages ofscr ipture:

"Rejoice always, pray cont inuall y, g i ve thankin all c ir c umstances; for this i s God's will foryou in Christ Jesus." (1 Thess. 5: 16-18). In the words of Billy Graham, "Prayer is sima two-way conversation between you andGod." What a wonderful God we serve, whonever tires of hearing from us, who wants togive us the desires of our hearts, and nevergets annoyed when we ask him the samethings continually. So pour your hearts out toGod this week, and may you be richly blesse

as you enter into His presence in prayer.

Cathy Saunders, Vision Team Mem
