A Visit from Jesus

(Picture 1)

Badria* sat in her home with several other Afghani women, watching TV. She reached for the volume knob and turned it down, then she closed the window curtains. She would not want anyone seeing or hearing what they were watching. The program was about Jesus.

The TV broadcast came from Iran, so some of the women had difficulty understanding the dialect. But for Badria and most of the women, the dialect was close enough to their Dari language. They learned enough about Jesus to know that they were drawn to Him and wanted to learn more.

(Picture 2)

They had so many questions! Where could they find the answers? Badria said, “I know a Christian woman who has moved here recently. Maybe she can answer our questions.”

(Picture 3)

The women went to see the Christian lady. When they found her, they discovered that the lady knew hardly any Dari at all. Badria asked her, “Can’t you learn our language very, very quickly so you can explain everything to us?”

(Picture 4)

The Christian lady was very sorry, but that was something she could not do. She said to Badria, “You must ask Jesus.”

The Afghani women went home, feeling sad that the Christian lady could not help them. But Badria did what the Christian lady had said. She asked Jesus to help her.

(Picture 6)

A few weeks later, Badria came to see the Christian lady again. With great excitement, she said, “Jesus came to see me last night! I asked Him all my questions, just as you told me to!”

The Christian lady was very surprised. “What do you mean?” she asked.

(Picture 7)

Badria explained, “I did just what you told me to do. I asked Jesus to please answer our questions. He came to me! Jesus came to me and answered my questions. And not just me—He came to all of us!”

“Tell me more,” the Christian lady said.

(Picture 8)

Badria said, “All of us had so many questions. Jesus visited all of us over the past weeks, sometimes in dreams, sometimes not. He answered all our questions! Now we know that Jesus is real, and He is the truth! His way is the true way!”

(Picture 9)

During the weeks that followed, Jesus’ visits to the women continued, and He continued to answer their questions. Some time later, others moved into the area who were able to answer the Afghani women’s questions and teach them truth from the Bible. When those people arrived, Jesus’ visits stopped.

Jesus loves the Afghani people so much that He himself visited the women—poor, simple believers who had no one to teach them. Pray for the people of Afghanistan, that more will learn that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
