The transition from casing running to cementation using conventional cementing methods would take approximately three hours. Adding to the already challenging situation, the assigned tubular running service (TRS) company could not provide the service due to lack of equipment and personnel on the requested date and time. Suspending operations was not a viable option as it would result in additional losses to maintain the wellbore until service could be rendered. True Result: Tesco received the call-out for TRS to begin installing a Cement Swivel on a 500-ton Casing Drive System™ (CDS™) at the Tesco facility before sending the equipment to the rig. The CDS with the integrated Cement Swivel arrived on location ready to begin operations in 48 hours. Assembling the equipment before the operator pulled the bottomhole assembly (BHA) from the well would effectively mitigate NPT and losses during the transition from casing running to cementing. After laying down the BHA, the CDS, with attached Cement swivel, was rigged up in 30 minutes. After getting the 13-inch casing to bottom, it took only 15 minutes for the cementing crew to connect the cement lines to the Cement Swivel so that the casing could be prepped for the cement slurry. After the cement was cured, Tesco personnel rigged down the CDS in 30 minutes. Proven Performance: This was the first use of a Tesco Cement Swivel by this operator. The Cement Swivel added a large value to the TRS by shortening the time between casing running completion and hooking up cement lines, eliminating the potential fluid loss without adding any additional time to the overall cementation process. While the casing reached setting depth without any trouble, the Cement Swivel allows the operator to rotate and/or reciprocate the casing while simultaneously pumping the slurry. Rotation and reciprocation has been used by other operators to rotate of ledges in highly deviated wells and to reduce the likelihood of the casing getting stuck and being set higher than planned. The ability to rotate/reciprocate has also been proven to reduce channeling and improve cement bond logs.

Customer Focus:After drilling the 16-inch intermediate section of an offshore well, a Major Middle East Operator experienced mud losses and needed a solution to cement the casing in place as quickly as possible.

True Result:Tesco received the call-out for TRS to begin installing a Cement Swivel on a 500-ton Casing Drive System™ (CDS™) at the Tesco facility before sending the equipment to the rig. After getting the 13⅜-inch casing to bottom, it took only 15 minutes for the cementing crew to connect the cement lines to the Cement Swivel so that the casing could be prepped for the cement slurry. After the cement was cured, Tesco personnel rigged down the CDS in 30 minutes.

Proven Performance:This was the rst use of a Tesco Cement Swivel by this operator. The Cement Swivel added a large value to the TRS by shortening the time between casing running completion and hooking up cement lines, eliminating the potential uid loss without adding any additional time to the overall cementation process. While the casing reached setting depth without any trouble, the Cement Swivel allows the operator to rotate and/or reciprocate the casing while simultaneously pumping the slurry. Rotation and reciprocation has been used by other operators to rotate of ledges in highly deviated wells and to reduce the likelihood

of the casing getting stuck and being set higher than planned. The ability to rotate/reciprocate has also been proven to reduce channeling and improve cement bond logs.
